I love the penguin, so perhaps I'm a bit biased. However, I will concede that Extreme Gaming is not the most digestible disc to start out on, on your spiritual journey to live the way of the penguin. That being said, it is still a lot better than most any other synth acts around. Totally listenable the first time through, you will be inextricably linked to this music forever. It will play inside your head at idle moments. It will infect your psyche like VD, only you want it to. Just the tasteful use of samples and beats will impress you. A fine listen.

Not for everyone, but a particular treat for those who enjoy perverse audio tinkering. Superb, freaky music that defies description.

I normally save 4 stars for absolutely GREAT albums and 5 for classic/genius ones. This is a very solid release. Maybe not GREAT, but very good stuff. A bit repetetive in parts. A very good balance between electronic, moog/arp, synth and country/folk rock n' roll. Check out "shatter the illusion of integrity, yeah" as well. Good stuff kids. Throw out your limp bizquik and pick up some ya hear.'!

Just can't get enough,

This is slightly lighter, more playful than the "darker" (at least judging by the cover) Mysterious Pony, and I think I like it more. See other reviews for a better summation of the sounds. Basically, just another great one that'll make you laugh, cry, and hurl (all while dancing). Oh, and this is not exactly the best example of punk or the general perception of alternative. EP defies categorization.
