You just have to face it, there are some golf courses you're never going to play. Alan Shepard's "course" on the moon probably isn't going to be open for regular play for several years. And the pictures of the Kabul Golf and Country Club, complete with the caddy carrying a Soviet RPK-74 machine gun and a map of the minefields may be for you, but I think I'll pass. But the floating green on the Coeur d'Alene Resort (Idaho, and a truly beautiful place) that they move around every night looks great. Furnace Creek (Death Valley, California) looks like it might be a good place to play in mid-winter. 200 degree plus ground temperature in the summer is a little warm for me. And of course the Lucifer's Anvil course (Black Rock Desert, Nevada) is between the two so why not stop there.

This book describes thirty of the more unusual golf courses you're likely to find. What a Christmas present for the golfer who has everything....

Bought this for my dad for Christmas. He loved it. Read the whole book and has picked out a couple of courses he plans to visit. I would definately recommend this to anyone who loves golf. Even if you don't, the pictures are fantastic.

I don't get the review below, if you hate golf, why would you write a review on a golf book? My dad loves to golf and I understand that he probably won't be able to go to all the golf courses in this book; however, I know he'll enjoy reading and seeing the pictures of some of these extreme courses. I'm definitely going to buy this book for him.

I bought this as a bit of a gag gift both for my husband and another friend of ours, and I must admit, it's really a fascinating look at some of the bizarre and unusual golf courses around the globe - from a course designed around the shapes of naked women (seen from above) to a course played amidst giraffes and other safari-type wildlife, the pictures, descriptions, and history are entertaining and well done.

I enjoyed the book. I sort of read it one course at a time (about 5 minutes). The first part is a golf version of the 7 peaks or whatever the mountain climbers call it. These courses are featured. It is 8 courses and range from hottest to coldest to highest to lowest, hardest, etc. Some of them are a hoot.

Then the book turns to take a look at courses that are unique for some particular feature. I would judge the photography to be a little less quality compared to some of the course books I have but the book held my interst. I got a used copy for something like $4.00 total. I consider it a good deal.

Some of these would be a trip. Think I better stay with the local municipal courses.

I had invited my husband's golf buddies over to celebrate his birthday and gave his this book as a gift. The golfers spent quite awhile looking at the pictures and making comments about the difficulty of the shots and wishing they were playing the courses the holes were on. It provided a lot of fun for them during the party. The pictures are great and really depict what the book is all about.

I should be reimbursed for shipping because the book was warped, pages wavy and I returned it.
