5.0 out of 5 stars Nardone's extreme pumpkins are fabulous...
Every year I look forward to the next Tom Nardone masterpiece. The stuff he does with pumpkins is inspiring. Pumpkins with flames coming out of them. Pumpkins in chains that form archways. Pumpkins that create giant insects. Pumpkins that form the weird heads on fake corpses. Anything one might imagine and lots that we never could without Tom Nardone. So funny. So...

The book has a novelty kind of charm. However, in reality, most people don't have the time and disposable income necessary to create the massive pumpkin-carrot-gourd-rebar structures associated with this book. Moreover, the author's pumpkin carving skills aren't exactly outstanding; a 2 minute Google search of carved pumpkins will provide several examples of carvings...

So funny. So grotesque.

This latest book is an expanded one that has suggestions for costumes-pranks-party food-creatures, and of course, Pumpkins! What would Halloween be without 'em? Or, without the genius of Tom Nardone? Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars totally awesome., September 27, 2009
Once again Tom Nardone has created the ultimate Halloween guide. Straying into spooky new territory, it's as hilarious, genius, and downright clever as his other books. Buy this book. now. do it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Halloween Entertainment, October 12, 2009
This is a must have Halloween book. The costumes are hysterical and the party food section is very creative. Every year I look forward to Tom's newest edition of this book so I can share it with my family, friends and co-workers.

The book has a novelty kind of charm. However, in reality, most people don't have the time and disposable income necessary to create the massive pumpkin-carrot-gourd-rebar structures associated with this book. Moreover, the author's pumpkin carving skills aren't exactly outstanding; a 2 minute Google search of carved pumpkins will provide several examples of carvings that are better (and scarier) than those found here. Finally, the author's writing style comes off a little bit corny - His introduction reminds me of listening to hackneyed pitch-men for infomercials.
...All of this being said, there are some suggestions that I did enjoy: The party coctails and hors d'oueuvres sections - particularly The "Bloody Brain" shots and the "Pumpkin Vomiting Guacamole" - were rather interesting. I was also intrigued by the "Flaming Pumpkin Tiki Torches" and by some of the ideas proffered for creating a "Haunted Lavatory."
My suggestion is to look for this book at your local library (that's where I found a copy), or on bookstore bargain shelves; it's not worth the retail price.

I love this entire series and the author's website. Someday when I have enough time, I will build a vegetable monster but until then, it's great to thumb through the books and laugh like a mad scientist.

I bought a couple halloween books for an upcoming party I am hosting. This book has a lot of good ideas and creations. The decorations and such are mostly "budget" conscious and look like it. All in all, for the money, you can't beat it!!!! Buy it if you love this holiday.

It was OK. I was a little disappointed, and expected more especially with regards to home decorations and food ideas. I do, however, plan to use the pumpkin puking guacamole idea, so that was worth buying the book. Just don't expect it to be as complete a guide as the product description touts. The pumpkin images were good though, and the tips for working with them were great.
