5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Job I ever had
I had a chance to work on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on the episode involving the Sears family (they lived in Oakland). I have worked on so many TV shows as local crew, but this was the first time that I finished the day knowing that I had done something good in the course of a production. 3.0 out of 5 stars The magic
I LOVE LOVE the show Extreme makeover home ed. I was a bit disappointed by the dvd. The episodes in it didn't convey the warmth or the heart that I usually feel when I watch the show. I was also sad that it didn't include one of my favorite episodes. The one where Lee Ann Womack sings "I Hope You Dance." I hope that the season 2 dvd is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Job I ever had, October 12, 2005
This review is from: Extreme Makeover - Home Edition (DVD)
I had a chance to work on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on the episode involving the Sears family (they lived in Oakland). I have worked on so many TV shows as local crew, but this was the first time that I finished the day knowing that I had done something good in the course of a production. We weren't making fantasy or lame basic cable entertainment. We were changing lives. This is one of the true giving shows on TV. This family had been through so much trouble with the daughter's condition over the last year. It felt so nice to be there when Ty told them that they would be able to return home because the show was building them a house that she can live in. I had tears in my eyes when I drove home.

Ty and the gang truly do the work of angels.

I was very disappointed to find the DVD was not actually the full Season 1. Missing from it are the Hardin family, Tugwell family, Imbriani family, Mc Crory family and the Friends Helping Friends episode.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Wonderful!!!!!!, August 28, 2005

This review is from: Extreme Makeover - Home Edition (DVD)
When the words "reality tv show" is spoken, this is the type of show that pops into mind. It's not a show where people vote other people off, or a show where backstabbing and lies are the name of the game.

This is a show where a group of people pick a truly deserving family and change their lives by changing their style of living. The families stories are truly inspirational and always bring a tear to the eye. It is the type of show that the entire family can sit down to watch together and where no one will be offended or turned of by language or behaviors.

As for the two discs, there have been other series released with 2 discs...and the episodes have been on both sides of the disc. This helps save money for the consumers and make the packages smaller. Also, there were only 13 episodes in the first season. Therefore, putting all the episodes on two discs would be possible. Although I'm not sure that this is what they are planning on doing.

However they are released, they will definately be bought by me. I encourage anyone considering this series to give a shot. I guarentee you will turn off the tv feeling more inspired.

5.0 out of 5 stars What reality TV should be, November 21, 2005
This review is from: Extreme Makeover - Home Edition (DVD)
Watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a weekly ritual in our home - each week we pop a bowl of popcorn, sit down as a family, and watch Ty and the crew make a dramatic difference in the life of a family in need. This is what reality TV should be - this is what real life should be...doing what you can to help others. Not only does the show have a direct impact on the family, but it creates social awareness about the obstacles these families face. You would think in reading this that I'm an emotional, soupy-type person, but I'm not. I'm just really impressed with a responsible reality TV show in this age of supposed reality TV shows that are anything but real.

I started watching the show in mid season #2. This show has me hooked ever since. I had no idea there was a DVD for season 1. I bought it and loved it. What a great show. How many reality shows or any show on TV for that matter help people in this fashion. I wish they'd come out with season #2 on DVD so I can see what I missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Show I Actually Try To Watch..., February 14, 2006
This review is from: Extreme Makeover - Home Edition (DVD)
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is the only show during the week that I actually am upset about if I miss! This is truly a wonderful concept and show. Some people say that it gets repetitive or too hokey... Well, I don't think helping someone get another chance in life can ever get like that. I've cried during the show, seeing how families struggle through their pain and hardship. I laugh seeing the antics of the crews. I do get that "warm & fuzzy" feeling when I see the families' reactions to their new homes. My life is too hectic to really slow down and appreciate the little things in life, so this is my little dose of it each week!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is suck a cool show, I never predicted a dvd release though. I wonder if all of season 1's episodes are gonna be on this because it is only 2o bucks and only 2-discs. Oh well doesent matter I am gonna buy it anyway! You should too it is great.

It is about a group of designers completely renovating a certain family's house. This is of course reality tv. The catch is the team only has 1 week to make it over. In some cases they rip down the old house and builda new one in its place. Then the design team puts all this cool stuff in the new house.

Thanks for reading my review, I hope it was Helpful.

What a fantastic DVD. We fell in love with this programme whilst on holiday in the USA so when I discovered that there was a DVD available (not in the UK though!) I HAD to buy it and I was not disappointed! It is lovely to see things done for people who deserve it but I really think this DVD set should come with a free box of tissues! I just want the next season now! Thanks Amazon.com speedy shipping and excellent service. Thanks extreme makeover for showing that people do still care!
