Readers who enjoy romantic suspense with extreme emphasis on steamy sex will like this book.

I liked the strong female main character, Eve Wolfe, but I didn't completely 'buy' into her being some super CIA agent. The main male character, Zane Archer, was a little more believable. I did find it annoying that throughout the book the two main characters continued to address and refer to each other by multiple names/aliases-like all those 'Zane-Archer-Sawyer' coupled with the 'Eve-Evie-Wolfe-Juliet' references. Stop trying to convince/remind me that they were both big, bad, undercover operatives with past CIA missions!

I thought the author did a good job with the suspense part of the story and I did enjoy the action sequences with Eve and Zane dogging and fleeing those who were out to discredit her and kill them both, while sabotaging the Aegis agency, Zane's former employer. However, the sex kept getting in the way of a good story! I like the romance element, which is why I love to read good romantic suspense, but between the flashbacks to their former sexual relationship, and all their mental detours into sexual thoughts while running for their lives it was too much. I counted nine pages at one point that contained nothing but graphic descriptions of them making love, and I was getting a little bored by that point with it all! One thing I really disliked was when Eve chose a major 'too-stupid-to-live' course of action near the end of the book, solely designed to put her all alone in the cross-hairs of her enemies. Of course, seconds before her capture, she realizes she has made a huge mistake in judgement! Yeah, that's the solid thinking and smart behavior anyone would expect from an experienced CIA agent!

I borrowed this book on Amazon Prime, but even if I had purchased it I would not be re-reading it.

This was a new author for me and thankfully, the first book in a new series. I tend to be a big fan of series. This series is based around a private security firm called Aegis. The book didn't really go into any detail about how the firm was formed or what exactly they do, but it did introduce the key players in the firm.

Archer and Eve have a steamy history that totally hit the fan over a couple of ops gone bad. Archer is out for some major revenge against Eve, and she feels his hatred. When a meeting goes horribly wrong for Eve and results in a terrorist type act, Archer takes the opportunity to take Eve into his "custody". What he proceeds to do next can be perceived as both scary and ultimately hot. (You will just have to read it to find out.) Because Archer severed ties with Aegis in order to track Eve, he is left without backup when terrorists breach his hideout and try to kill him and Eve.

Eve is smart and resourceful but used to being alone. She is kind of a fixer protector who has to do everything by herself. Although she beats herself up for it mentally, she doesn't run away from Archer when she has the opportunity because he is hurt and because she still loves him. She and Archer end up forming an unlikely alliance based on mutual distrust but a common goal.

Danger is everywhere, and eventually Aegis comes in to provide some much needed assistance. Suddenly everything kicks up a notch. I was surprised by who the actual bad guys turned out to be. I'm usually a good guesser, so it was a happy surprise. I am looking forward to seeing where this series goes and who it features next. I really want to know more about both Marley and Miller.

Obviously, this is an adults only book.

Extreme Measures is the first book in the Aegis Security series by author Elisabeth Naughton. Intense and delightful, it is a thrilling and intriguing tale of CIA operative Eve Wolfe and Aegis Security agent Zane Archer which will fascinate and mesmerize readers from start to finish. While the action is fast and furious, and the suspense never-ending, there are certain implausible situations which you’ll choose to ignore only if you are a true fan of the author, or taken in by the book.

Aegis Security agent Zane Archer and CIA operative Eve Wolfe are an unlikely enemies as they are not only close to each other but lovers. Their relationship nose-dived when Zane suspected Eve of betrayal which resulted in a botched mission causing several deaths with Zane barely escaping with his life. Zane is determined to track down the person who almost sent him to his death and the trail eventually leads to Eve. When Zane finally confronts Eve with the terrible accusation, she is unable to explain herself out of the situation.

But holding Eve does not solve any problem. Aegis Security is more at risk and so is an entire town. If Eve is innocent, who is setting her up? Zane and Eve must set their egos and distrust aside and work together again to get to the bottom of the mystery. Author Elisabeth Naughton’s Extreme Measures is fast-paced and full of action and suspense. The plot twists and surprises make this an incredible ride to the very last page.

I Love Elisabeth Naughton, I really do but if she writes one more book that keeps me up until 3AM, I am going to have to hunt her down and have some serious words with her (maybe take some Extreme Measures even).

Extreme Measures is book one in her fabulous new series Aegis Security Systems.. Now with Ms. Naughton's previous series the Eternal Guardians, all laced with Greek Mythology (ad Aegis sounding just a bit Greek) it would be easy to assume that this fell along those lines, don't think that, you would be wrong. It is an action packed, fast paced, intense, suspense filled piece of insanity that yes, kept me up until 3AM..

CIA agent Evie Wolff has a job to do, it's to find those in the agency that have turned. To track down the bad guys within. A difficult task but one that took her to and away from the one man she will ever love. Knowing he thinks she betrayed them both, knowing he would prefer her out of his life, Evie still can't turn her back on him. So when an op turns bad, things start blowing up and Evie is caught in the crossfire, of course Zane Archer is around to see her at her worst..

Zane Archer left the CIA, knowing it just wasn't for him. For Zane it's a black and white world and the CIA?? Well it's a world full of grey. Having turned to the Aegis Agency things might be looking up, that is until an op goes bad, the principal is dead and a mocking phone call from his past sets him off. Now he is determined to find Eve and discover just what she is up to. To take her down if she has turned bad. But when he finds her, everything is insane and nothing is like it's supposed to be. Is Evie an agent for good or bad? And honestly does it really matter? She owns his heart.
