4.0 out of 5 stars outstanding except for some typos, May 23, 2008

I LOVE THIS BOOK and am reading every word in it! The pictures are outstanding, too. My only complaint is that the book needed one more thorough review.

For instance, the larva of the "strangest hitchhiker" is said to be both 0.06 in and 3.8 cm. I appreciate having metric conversions, but they're sometimes incorrect and often inconsistently noted (metric noted first at times, second other times).

Perhaps typos are a personal pet peeve of mine...but with such outstanding technical information about the animals, I hope that the detailed information I'm accepting as true has undergone a thorough review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nature at it's Best!, September 30, 2011

This is one of the best Nature books I have read! As for children, it could not be any better. One page long description of fascinating insects, animals, etc. with beautiful color photos. My eight - year old grandson loves it and I could not pry it away from him when I received it from Amazon.com in the mail!

I saw this book in a doctor's office and I was instantly captivated by it. I grabbed my smartphone and purchased the book from here right there from the office. The pictures are lifelike and really grab your attention. Each piece is just long enough to keep you interested and you find yourself going from page to page and you just don't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is about 8-10 years old and older. You learn quite a bit just with a few minutes of reading. Very well done!

Extreme Nature is a book worth reading, not only for adults but children of middle school and high school as well, especially if the wonders of nature capture your mind! I started to read this book in my doctor's office and couldn't put it down. I ended up buying it and it is really fascinating! The pictures are so colorful and vivid that they jump out at you! I highly recommend this book because it teaches you things about nature that you probably wouldn't otherwise know.

This was a present for an 8 eight year old who has Autisim and loves the type of information that this book has. He is really into Nature and likes to know the type of things that this book covers. He really enjoys having the picture along with the descriptions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Extreme Nature (Paperback)
I bought this book for my brother for his ninth birthday. He is an exceptional reader for his age, so it worked well for him. The book is set up really well. One page will have the information about the animal or plant, and the facing page has a terrific photo of it. My brother started reading the book as soon as he got it, and didn't want to put it down. He kept telling everyone about things he read in the book. The information is so interesting. I give this book two thumbs up for an adult or a kid. Excellent!

I bought this book for my nephew who is home schooled. We both read it and the animals in it are amazing. Now everyone who picks it up can't put it down. From 4-year-old's to 80 year-old's. The octopus is amazing and so intelligent! I love the picture of the Sawfish. He's kind of got a cute face. Check out the male bird who courts his female by placing a variety of pretty objects outside the nest he made to entice her in (this animal was my personal favorite). Even if your kids aren't into reading, they will probably enjoy at the very least, looking at the pictures. Each animal has a full color picture with a full page of descriptions. Sadly, there are even animals that are now extinct that were alive up to 10 years ago. Very informative and fun! Highly recommended!
