versus
2.0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I was looking forward to listening to this album as I have been a fan of Marco Polo's beats for a while and I watched Ruste Juxx's freestyle videos to promote this album and thought that this was gonna come out really good. I was very disappointed though as I listened to it. I thought it was very monotonous and Ruste's flow was the same on every song and didn't come out...

Got this joint about 2 months ago. Exxecution is an overall ill album! Marco Polo lays down some. Serious production, while Juxx does what he does best.....body the beat! This album has somewhat of a 90's era/feel to it. Sean Price & Rockness (to name a few) make their presence on featured tracks. The cover/CD art is pretty dope too! If you still bang your older albums from the 90's especially Bootcamp Click albums, than Ruste Juxx & Marco Polo's Exxecution is easily without question a great addition to you album collection!

I was looking forward to listening to this album as I have been a fan of Marco Polo's beats for a while and I watched Ruste Juxx's freestyle videos to promote this album and thought that this was gonna come out really good. I was very disappointed though as I listened to it. I thought it was very monotonous and Ruste's flow was the same on every song and didn't come out to much more then him talking about how he's from Queens and jacking people which would be fine if he had more depth but you could pretty much listen to one song off the album and get the whole concept in a nutshell. It was kind of sad too that the best song on this album in my opinion was the one with Black Moon and that's because Black Moon made the track. In short I would not recommend this to anybody.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Boom Bap Classic, April 23, 2011
This review is from: Exxecution (Audio CD)
Marco Polo and Ruste Juxx combine to create the Exxecution. From start to finish the The Exxecution pounds with raw, gritty, hard hitting samples loaded with that MPC flavor. Coming in at 47 minutes and 12 tracks deep, this album is straight hip hop from the grimey streets of NY with no filler. Reminiscent of 90's boom bap, The Exxecution would have held its own with Gangstarr, EPMD, Big L, Boot Camp Clik, M.O.P. and any other classic hip hop group. The Exxecution just has that flava. Easily one of the top 5 albums of 2010.

Marco Polo is one of the most promising, talented producers today. In the style of greats such as Premier and Pete Rock, Marco Polo creates gritty, thick, sample driven hip hop. He has created a style so unique and of his own it is becoming easy to recognize a Marco beat. Just like if you hear a Premier beat and you can say instantly, "Yo, thas' totally a Premier beat."

The Exxecution is 12 tracks of hardcore street anthems and calculated lyricism. Ruste Juxx has an extremely ruff, raspy and deep voice. Being Sean Price's protege, it's obvious he is going to have some ill skills. The Exxecution has some seriously dope features. Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Freddie Foxxx, Sean Price, and a complete Black Moon feature on the track "Let's Take A Sec." - Nasty!

Bottom Line; buy this album. One of the best albums released in years.
