5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best of 2003
If not the best! I was always a fan of Mis-Teeq, but I like them even more now I have this CD. I got it on Saturday August 16th, and haven't taken it out of my CD player since. I'm listening to it right now, actually. This CD is much more then the first two singles. Track rundown:

Mis-teeq lack that extra special something to make them stand out admist other run of the mill girl groups. Nevertheless there's a few tracks that are worth more than just one listen.
Standouts:
"Scandalous"- this song is surely the one that got the group the most attention.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good tracks and nice beats. But easy on the POP side...., January 10, 2005

I have to admit that this album. Which is sold as an import. It sounds just right sometimes. But I think this album would be a little on that silly bubble-gum popmusic that most teenagers are into. I think they would need to rethink their next album. Most fans nowadays are matured listeners and want matured music. Don't get me wrong, this album is good, I mean GOOD!!!!! But contains too much kids stuff that is way below Mis-Teeq's true potential. If you wanna dance to some good music than this album is for you. But if your matured and like stuff like Hilary Duff's new single "FLY" or rock/pop/R&B Artists. Then you may need to hear it first, in case you don't like it. But Eye Candy is seriously as it sounds like. Pop candy or in other words, a more POP feel. But anyway put some hands in the air for MIS-TEEQ again!

If not the best! I was always a fan of Mis-Teeq, but I like them even more now I have this CD. I got it on Saturday August 16th, and haven't taken it out of my CD player since. I'm listening to it right now, actually. This CD is much more then the first two singles. Track rundown:

1. My Song
This has a short intro at the beginning, introducing the Mis-Teeq girls, then it kicks into a RnB garage number, with storming music and a strong chorus. Good start to the CD. 4/5
2. Scandalous (StarGate Radio Mix)
This is on the radio everytime you turn it on right now, but this song gets better and better everytime you hear it! I love the chorus and Alesha's bridge. I love the lyrics too! 5/5
3. Can't Get It Back
This is Mis-Teeq's current single, and while I like it, it's not one of my favourite tracks. I love the music at the beginning, and the catchy chorus. 4/5
4. Dance Your Cares Away
Fantastic music! I love the beginning and the chorus is really catchy. This has great feel good lyrics. 5/5
5. All In One Day
This song is weird! It recalls a normal day in Mis-Teeq's world, starting with getting out of bed, up to going to bed with their man. It has some weird lyrics, but overall is pretty good. 4.5/5
6. Strawberrez
This song seems to go on forever (it's 5:25). You'll hate it the first time you hear it, but as time goes on and you listen to it more, it'll grow on you. I love the vocals and the music in the track. The ad-libs in this song, last for 3 and half minutes, but it'll seem shorter once you've listened to the song a few times. 5/5
7. Nitro
This is a rocking track! Alesha is such a good rapper. I love the powerful chorus, and the reference to their debut album "Lickin' On Both Sides". It was one of my favourites the first time I listened to the album. 5/5
8. Home Tonight (featuring Joe)
Ooooh, I LOVE this song! It's sooo beautiful. The part where Joe sings is amazing (now I know why so many people say he's good at love songs). The word to describe this track is SEXY. It's very sensual, but also ballady. I loved it the first time I heard it. My second favourite on the CD. 5/5
9. That's Just Not Me (featuring Baby Cham)
MY FAVOURITE! I LOVE this song!!!! OMG, this is fantastic! I love the music on this track, it's soooo cute! Baby Cham is a new name, he raps and he sounds like Shaggy. The chorus is really catchy and you'll find yourself singing along in no time. 5,000,000/5
10. How Does It Feel
Love this song too. The music is really cool, and you'll have the chorus stuck in your head for ages (I had it in my head for a whole day). It's a favourite on the first listen. 5/5
11. Best Friends
This has cool futuristic music at the beginning. It sounds like it might be slow, but after 10 or so seconds, it kicks into a steady beat. 4.5/5
12. It's Beginning To Feel Like Love
The only song on the entire album that didn't hit me as being outstanding. It's too slow and deary for me. It's ok. 3/5
13. Just For You

This song shows the Mis-Teeq girls individual voices and personalites. They each get their own bit to sing/rap. Alesha goes first, then Su-Elise and finally Sabrina. Sabrina sounds the best on this song, her verse is funky. 5/5

Favourite songs in order (very hard to list):

1. That's Just Not Me (featuring Baby Cham)
2. Home Tonight (featuring Joe)
3. Nitro
4. Scandalous
5. Strawberrez

I like nearly every song on the album. Most of the tracks have amazing music. The two best tracks have people featured on them, but the guests don't overpower the girls at all.
Mis-Teeq will go far, they'd be popular in the USA, with this kind of sound - a mix of RnB/Garage/Pop.
One of the best CDs of 2003 - definitely my favourite!

4.0 out of 5 stars Danceable tunes with a difference, June 28, 2004
By
This review is from: Eye Candy (Audio CD)
Mis-Teeq has a unique sound that makes them stand out from the rest of the Brit-pop girl groups--a harder edge with just the right amount of dirty. This sound makes the best tracks really move; so much so, you don't even care if the lyrics are silly. The slow songs in the middle are awkward, but it picks up quickly and hits the spot.

3.0 out of 5 stars fairly disappointing average second album, June 11, 2008
This review is from: Eye Candy (Audio CD)
I just loved mis-teeq's first album lickin on both sides, almost every song on that cd was perfect!. Then came "eye candy" when i first heard the song scandalus which went No.1 here in Australia in 2003 i was happy to see them come out with something fantastic yet again!!, So i bought the album, listened to it and was not very impressed.

It seems mis-teeq went from their first album which was a very awesome unique uk garage sound to a mainstream pop/R&b music which ruined thier success. I loved the single scandalus which reminded me of "one night stand" a little bit and "Dance your cares away" which is a return to their uk garage sound and "nitro" which just sounds like a nice hip/hop song. The rest of the album is just forgettable poppy/R&b stuff which sounds like something another group would make it doesnt sound much like their sound at all.

The same mistake uk urban singer craig david made with his second album but fortunatly for him he was able to come back, learn from his mistake and make better music, mis-teeq on the other hand, gave up and alesha went solo.

1.0 out of 5 stars Scandalous eye candy, June 14, 2004
This review is from: Eye Candy (Audio CD)
Where did these R&B chicks come from? I think's it's a tougher version of Destiny's Child. Seriously, who REALLY wants three booty-showing ladies who sing with no emotion and horrible lyrics? I prefer saying this record is junk. Except, maybe, one of the tracks named 'Just for you' which has a nice beat and and a nice overrall style. But hey - the rest is just BAD.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Candy is Still Fresh on the Tastebuds, May 19, 2004
This review is from: Eye Candy (Audio CD)
Many vocal groups, particularly female ones, have about as much longevity as a reality tv contestant. There are, of course, exceptions. TLC, Destiny's Child, The Supremes, and the fledling women of Blaque continue to carry on, two of the latter groups enduring near break-ups due to departing members. What make Mis-teeq different in many ways is their innovative sound. While it isn't necessarily aimed at the grown up crowd, the harder beats and driving rhythms of their sophmore effort reflect a major growth process. Their self-professed "Urban UK" delivery is unmistakeable in its charm and ability to keep dance floors hot.

While they don't have the vocal range and diversity as say, Destiny's Child, they do know how to create an addictive and pulse pounding sound. The main element that makes 'Eye-Candy' such a pleasure to listen to is its diversity. Upon listening to their first album, Mis-teeq were eagerly awaiting the next wave of parties, but on 'Eye-Candy', Su, Aleesha, and Sabrina opt for funkier, and more sensual material. On the electro/r&b track "Scandalous", Aleesha spits killer rhymes and blazing hooks, while Sabrina and Su-Elise add the seductive r&b edge. On "Can't Get it Back", the girls exude the 'boy be gone' attitude, but do it with lush harmonies and a funky up-tempo groove.

Eclectic grooves are nothing short of amazing on Mis-teeq's sophmore album. "All in One Day" is a laid back, vibe song with thoughtful lyrics and a pristine vocal delivery from the three women. "Strawberrez", a seductive slow jam that evokes the vocal memories of Minnie Ripperton, is a true sign of growth for the girls of Mis-teeq. Of course there is filler, but seldom does it take away from Mis-teeq's charm . "Dance All Your Cares Away" is far too amatuerish for the sophisticated ladies of Mis-teeq. Elsewhere the girls succeed beautifully. "Home Tonight", by far the album's best track, is a true gem. The up-tempo, bumping rhythms combined with Mis-teeq's graceful harmonies and Joe's background vocals make it an award deserving song. It is the perfect example of slow jam.

The ladies close out the album with the blazing track "Just For You". It is what the combo of dance and r&b music should be... HOT! Su-Elise and Aleesha display their ability to flow, while Sabrina kicks it old school style with a school yard chant infused within the track. It too deserves a chance on the airwaves, and if not there, it would keep club goers sweating all night.

Mis-teeq may not posses the best vocal abilities ever seen, but they do posses a unity, and as I said before, charm, that make them undeniable stars. They rival many girl groups that we listen to in the states, and hopefully they will begin their takeover of American airwaves and transcend the r&b borders to find new frontiers for female vocal groups. "Eye-Candy" is a definite must have... FOR ANYONE!
