Product Description

EYE OF THE GODS is a psychological thriller about a man whose life spirals out of control when he is cursed with the ability of remote viewing.

It combines the high-tension paranoia of ENEMY OF THE STATE with the foreboding chill of THE DEAD ZONE.

Sean Black undergoes surgery, cloning his eyes to restoring his failing vision. After the operation, he "dreams" of a murder, only to discover that it really happened…

…But the death isn't being reported as a crime. When his curiosity gets the best of him, Sean uncovers a conspiracy and sets off a chain of events that unravel his life.

This review is from: Eye of the Gods (Graphic Novel) (Kindle Edition)
Eye of the Gods falls somewhere in between Enemy of the State and The Deadzone. At it's core it's a story of fear and paranoia on various levels told against a near future back drop. Some of those fears are personal some tackle larger issues like privacy and the role of government in our lives. Burleigh does a great job of using the personal fears of the main character as a hook for us as readers and the larger conspiracy ideas to keep us interested and engaged. I like the fact that even though this is a Sci-Fi story it never hits you over the head with it. It seems like our world just our world 20 minutes into the future. That kept things grounded and made the story really work.

For a first time graphic novel the storytelling is top notch and in some cases pushes the boundaries of comic storytelling with it's cinematic flourishes. Although sometimes the inking goes up and down there remains a level of consistency in the art that makes you forgive any of the rough edges.

Burleigh has a voice as a creator and as you read the book you see more confidence and development of that voice coming through in the pages. Excited to see what he does next.

Eye of the Gods is definitely a must read.
