Book Description

March 1, 2008
Will Saris, an ambitious and young officer in the Space Fleet, embarks on his first mission alone with one directive - be discrete. He disobeys that directive and sets off a chain of events that not only change his life but much of the universe as well. The Eye of Icarus, book one in the Space Frontiers Series, starts off with edge-of-the-seat action, heart-throbbing romance, and chilling suspense where Will Saris goes from a rookie Officer and boy to a mature master manipulator of the alien races. The Eye of Icarus is the long awaited follow-up to D'Ambrosio's Fractured Time Trilogy as Will Saris, son of Fractured Time's Billy Brock, proves to be much like his father as he weaves his own thrilling and romantic adventures in a hostile universe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Ride!, June 10, 2010
By
This review is from: The Eye of Icarus (Paperback)
This was a stunning story that had just about everything in it. The theme is a typical good versus evil but in a style that made me want more. Young Will Saris sees an opportunity to seize the moment and turn the tide of the war against the alien alliance. In teenage fashion, what seems like a good idea at the time isn't always a smart move. He has all the attributes of a seasoned gamer as he plays his enemies against each other to weaken them.
Shanna, the unpredictable Seer/priestess, proves to be much more than that while anything but a priestess. Will has his hands full with her as their steamy romance and surprising traits lead to some wild and wooly adventures. For the more mature readers, there are jack and Maya. They provide quite a challenge to each other as they try to rekindle an old relationship stemming from their days at the Fleet Academy.
There are a number of supporting characters that are both diverse and entertaining. The author has weaved a beautiful web that will obviously stretch into several other novels. I'm very anxious to read book two, Dangerous Liaisons to see what kind of trouble Will and Shanna can get the crews of the Luna C and the Phantom (space ships)into. This is one great ride for readers of all ages. Go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Star Struck, June 8, 2010
By
This review is from: The Eye of Icarus (Paperback)
When I first heard about The Eye of Icarus at a convention, it was compared to Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I found it hard to imagine a combination like that so I decided to give it a shot. I have to say that it was very much like the comparison although Indiana would be an 18 year old.
The action is impressive and very creative from the initial hovercraft chase to the strategic formations in the space battles. The story adds a touch of horror with some of the alien kings creatures.
The slowly evolving romance between Will and Shanna is seductive and sometimes impulsive. I could feel myself wanting to be a teenager in such a relationship.
Will comes across as somewhat of a strategist and soon has everyone believing in him as he bends the rules of the Space Fleet to implement his own tactics for fighting the war. There are a number of subplots that kept me wanting to read more.
The diverse age group and ethnicity of the crew made for an even better story as the senior characters try to mentor Will and Shanna.
The problems Will and Shanna encounter throughout the story make it an ideal read for young adults while the complexity of the plots would entertain someone of a more senior age.
Icarus in this decade is truly what Star Wars was in the 70s. I highly recommend this novel and look forward to reading the next book n the series - Dangerous Liaisons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye of the storm!, March 29, 2011
This review is from: The Eye of Icarus (Paperback)
If you like high tech battle and action this book has you covered. Interesting characters and weird aliens--check. Romance, ditto. In fact this book is hitting on all cylinders for what readers of SF adventure like best, which make it a book which is easy to recommend!
