GREAT GREAT GREAT, What more can I say about the first album from this great guitar pyrotechnician in almost 8 years. If you like blistering guitar solos then pick this CD up now. 3.0 out of 5 stars FrankMarino review 2001
I hoped to experience to hear a kind of "The Power of Rock & Roll" part II with blasting heavy metal guitar playing, but overall the album is very easy (e.g. soft) listening with lots of guitar melodie, but I miss the real power of the songs. For me it has become more of a "background" listening record, than full intensive listening. But F.Marino...

GREAT GREAT GREAT, What more can I say about the first album from this great guitar pyrotechnician in almost 8 years. If you like blistering guitar solos then pick this CD up now. I have been listening to it for over a year now and it gets better with each listen. The tracks that really jump at you are He's Calling, Avalon, and Ordinary Man. Frank has come a long way over the years and you hear it in each and every track. There are Middle Eastern influences in some of the solos taken which give this CD a very spiritual feel to it. The lyrics on He's Calling and Ordinary Man show a man that has faced his adversity and found solace in his maker. So pick this CD up and put the headphones on and take a journey into guitar heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars magical musician!!!, April 21, 2002
This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Audio CD)
Like many other fans of frank marino,I could hardly wait to get my hands on this cd! Since "FROM THE HIP"( which by the way is phenominal!! )I have been patiently waiting for the return of this master musician/songwriter. ... "Eye of the storm" is fast becoming one of my favorites! The lyrics of "he's calling",and "ordinary man",are inspiring to say the least. I was fortunate enough to see him in chicago on the promo tour for this album and his third song was "he's calling". As soon as frank began the intro, the hair on the back of my neck stood up and i was hooked!Awesome! What a song! This album is"fresh" and I encourage anyone who loves music as much as i do, to purchase this cd an let it enhance your musical mind!In my mind, frank Marino is one of the best guitarist of all time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Rock & Roll!!!!!, January 13, 2004

What can I say about Frank Marino that has not aready been said or implied. With out a doubt, he is truly one of the worlds best guitars players. For me that is saying a lot. From beginning to end Frank demenstrates how a guitar can be played. His guitar solos from "Eye of The Storm" and "He's Calling,"are without a doubt as intense as a solo he performed on an earlier tune called "Requim For a Sinner." Anyone that Who has chance to hear this mans work will come away with but one conclusion.. "Awesome!"
How would Hendrix Have responded to this incredible performer? I don't know! But I have no doubt He would have been honuored to perform with Frank and I suspect the feelings would be mutual!
Get this CD! You wont regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 STARS, TIMES TEN FOLD !!, August 19, 2001

It's about time someone with the class and talent of Mr. Frank Marino save's us from the world of what ever it is that stuff is they call music now day's,lol. I've had this cd for over a year now, and let me tell you it just get's better and more ... each time I hear it. 9 tunes that cover 72 minutes of hard guitar playing that at times you feel like Frank Marino is ripping the gut's out of his axe. And other times listening to the delicate sound of a soft wind building up to a Hurricane. Starting with a couple minutes of sounds that resemble maybe JEFF BECK in PINK FLOYD doing STAR WARS? Into THE EYE OF THE STORM 9:54 of blistering guitar work that intertwines within it's self to pull off what could be called unbeliveable. You'll have to hear it for yourself. HE'S CALLING rips right into a rif that sounds like what maybe you would hear if you stuck your finger in a wall socket, lol. Track 8, AVALON is another instrumental by Frank that you'll wander why he dosn't get grammy's or do movie sound track's? AVALON is so great. For you folk's who loved POPPY this is it,man!! Listening to the words in these songs, you can tell Frank has matured with age and is able to share a lifetime of experiance's and example's of a life worth living. I could go on all day, but . . . there is no way to compare EYE OF THE STORM with say STRANGE UNIVERSE or MAHOGANY RUSH LIVE or even JUGGERNAUT !! For all you Frank Marino fans out there, hello!! If you've never heard of Frank, GET THIS CD TODAY, OK!!

Like I said with EYE OF THE STORM, a classic has been givin' to us. THANKS FRANK !! Thanks for reading this JAMINJIM !! WOULD MAKE A GREAT X-MAS GIFT }:-)

I think this is a great piece of work. I won't speak for everyone/anyone else, but I was blown away from start to finish. Storm Warning/Eye of the Storm is a great tune. A very solid album, great riffs & drums. Somebody get this guy a decent record deal.

This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Audio CD)
What a great CD, I was overwhelmed by guitar playing of Frank Marino but there is nothing new about that is there? But the thing that stood out for me especially on thre first listen were the lyrics , I have always thought that Mr. Marino was a very underrated song writer, he always seemed to have something to say, but this is his finest hour , this man is a real poet. My recomendation, BUY this CD, is it outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Making Great Music, July 31, 2006
This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Audio CD)
I've been a fan since about 1975. This a more mature Frank Marino as evidenced by the lyrics. My favorite cut has to be Ordinary Man. Love the "3rd Stone from the Sun" ending. But all the songs are strong. Get his 'Real Live' cd also and see that he is just as technically good live.

He has got to be one of the best overall guitarists ever. He plays hard rock, psychedelic rock, jazz, blues, slide all at a maestro level. Some guitarists may be able to come close to him in one type, but he has mastered them all.

I bought this CD sight unseen and ears unheard... just based on Frank Marino's reputation. At first, I was a bit suprised to hear this material, for it differs from previous recordings... yet, after some thought and a thorough listening, it really is more of an evolution of sorts, so no, I really am not that suprised after all. Not to repeat other outstanding reviews, but one just can't go wrong with anything Frank Marino, with or without Mahogany Rush, releases. "Eye Of The Storm" is yet another example of his brilliance and his talent of spreading the field musically. Guitar works are awesome as usual, and all tracks are excellent and smooth.
You will love "Eye Of The Storm".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Comeback Album, August 21, 2001

I had wondered whatever happened to Frank Marino? He disappeared after his last studio album in the early 90's. Well, he is back with a vengeance. This album smokes from beginning to end. Frank has a new version of Mahogany Rush, and they compliment him perfectly.

If you are looking for a great guitar oriented rock album, this is the one for you. This would fit in very nicely with Marino's back catalogue. Do yourself a favor and buy it as soon as you can.
