Plenty of romance and action,

This review is from: Eye Of The Storm (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
With the ink barely dry on her divorce papers, former mercenary Simone Sheridan finds her world turned upside down when she's summoned back to her CIA handler, but before she can make it there, a hit man arrives to snub her out and shoots her brother-in-law Martin instead. Grabbing Martin and taking him on the run with her, her estranged husband Reece manages to catch up with them and demands to know what she's been hiding all these years. But once again the bad guys are hot on their tails, and she must finally clue Reece in on her past misdeeds which brings them to Central America and a drug lord that will do anything to see that her family's deaths are avenged.
Davis brings lots of edge of your seat action and breathtaking suspense to tell an exciting story. The only qualms I had were that Martin and Reece fit into her former world a little too easily, and the baddie was kind of obvious. But as always, Davis punctuates her story with plenty of sensuality and action to keep the story moving.

Simone Cooper Sheridan was once a CIA agent. That past is messing up her present marriage. I liked the premise but I think too much time has transpired for the troubles that she encounters now. I can understand the psychology of trust that the author was trying to get across. I just didn't get sold on it. I liked that her brother-in-law was in the story and that he got hurt. I think he shouldn't have had a quick recovery;her lawyer husband being a ranger was too convenient. A lawyer wasn't the right profession for him. Although I am glad he wasn't the typical security guy after being a ranger.
I did like the adventures; some of the help was too convenient just so to help the story to the next chapter. I didn't like who was chosen for the bad person. Was too simple and was decided at the last pages who it was going to be. I think another edit would have been better and rethink some obvious conclusions. The idea was great and probably the first five chapters were the best.

gender bending romantic suspense thriller,
This review is from: Eye Of The Storm (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Corpus Christie, just after her soon to be former brother-n-law Martin arrives to crash for a while, Simone Cooper-Sheridan receives the post card warning her that a storm is brewing. Before the ex CIA Division 9 agent can flee, assailants attack shooting Martin. She gets him to another family house where she works on his wound at the same time that her husband Reese, a former Ranger turned lawyer, angrily arrives.
She finally explains her secrets that tore apart their marriage just as another assault occurs. The three flee with Simone hoping to keep the two men she loves safe while reaching her former superior. As the police seek Reese for questioning on a potential homicide of his brother and wife, Isabella Ramirez seeks revenge for a CIA incident several years ago in Nicaragua that left most of her loved ones dead. Though having Reese as an ex Ranger seems too convenient and Martin handles rather easily being shot nearly drowned and other assaults like these are an everyday occurrence, fans will appreciate this gender bending romantic suspense thriller. From the first bullet, the audience will comprehend how competent Simone is whether it is eluding the bad guys, removing a bullet and stitching a wound, or fighting back against her opponents. Reese is a strong ally as he begins to understand why his beloved hid the truth though he resents what she has brought to Martin. EYE OF THE STORM is a delightful Dee Davis thriller. Harriet Klausner
