1.0 out of 5 stars Not up to par with previous writings
Not only is this writing not up to Missy's normally good writing, but the overall story is a dud! There is really no action as in the first two books, and her Dar character is getting just a little to imperalistist. There are much better books out there then this one to cost so much and be such a dud.

Melissa Good is an accomplished screenwriter, but her series of novels about Dar and Kerry show her style developing with time. The characters and the action in this book are developed much better than the first two books and she weaves several different plots into a more complex book. Dar and Kerry face problems at work and at home. A member of the board of directors is intent on driving them both from the company; meanwhile, Kerry's father is called to answer charges before Congress and Dar has a chance to bring her parents back together. Add an attempt on Dar's life and an explosion that demolishes a hospital they are visiting in, and this book has plenty of action. Now, if Good would just write a good love scene between her stars, this book would be perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's A Storm All Right!!, February 21, 2002
This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Paperback)
EYE OF THE STORM is the third in the Dar/Kerry series, and it does not disappoint. This huge book is well-edited and flows nicely. If you have read TROPICAL STORM and HURRICANE WATCH, this one follows and carries on the tale.

Missy Good is in rare form in this adventure which includes big problems in the corporate world, fires, explosions, family histrionics -- there's a little something for everyone. In the midst of the storms, the love Dar and Kerry share shines brightly through. Each episode in their lives gets more and more entertaining.

Other Recommendations: Carrie Carr's Lex/Amanda series which starts with DESTINY'S CROSSING, TRUE COLOURS by Dunne & King, Radclyffe's SAFE HARBOR, and *anything* by LJ Maas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic thriller loaded with humor, April 8, 2007
This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Paperback)
With it's Florida locales, high-tech careers and personal drama this novel has plenty to offer any reader. Add to that Washington politics and you have an explosive story. . Plenty of intrigue and office politics and romance keep this novel a page turner.

I especially enjoyed the continued character growth of both Dar and Kerry plus those who surround them in their lives. A real feel good story whose popularity continues. Populated with endearing characters that have interesting and diverse lives

I am so glad to see this terrific story in print in a wonderfully edited edition. This is a substantial story that is ideal for vacation or a long weekend or airplane trip.

This is a novel in a series that has grown to be 7 novels and is still growing. Don't miss any of the titles in the series -

* Tropical Storm
* Hurricane Watch
* Eye of the Storm, 2nd Edition
* Red Sky At Morning
* Thicker Than Water
* Terrors of the High Seas
* Moving Target

From the publishers web site - Eye of the Storm picks up the story of Dar Roberts and Kerry Stuart a few months after the story Hurricane Watch ends. At first it looks like they are settling into their lives together but, as readers of this series have learned, life is never simple around Dar and Kerry. Surrounded by endless corporate intrigue, Dar experiences personal discoveries that force her to deal with issues that she had buried long ago and Kerry finally faces the consequences of her own actions. As always, they help each other through these personal challenges that, in the end, strengthen them as individuals and as a couple.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dar & Kerry story is a must read for anyone who love lesbian romance, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book series for all those who love lesbian romance. This couple captivates and ignites your imagination. One of THE best lesbian book series available for those who believe love conquers all. For all those readers who want to escape in true love and destiny. For all those who believe in soulmates reuniting and longterm relationships - Melissa Good is for you. Dar and Kerry's story will find its way into your heart, capture your imagination and you will want to continue to follow their journey. Love the high tech setting. I am hopeful for a searing, explict love scene in a book to follow. Ms. Good has developed solid, mature, self-aware characters. You'll fall in love with them. I have just recently re-read all the books. It was nice to revist these two. Can't wait for more books to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better the Second Time Around, August 28, 2007

I'm willing to bet that every fan of lesbian fiction has at least heard of this classic series by Melissa good. With that said, I won't go into detail about the characters or the story. What I will say is this series deserves its place among the best in lesbian literature and should be enjoyed by everyone. I recently read this series for the second time. Although I first read it several years ago, the characters and storyline seemed like old friends and I enjoyed visiting with them again.

Dar and Kerry are obviously based on Xena and Gabrielle. However, Good has given them lives of their own in a modern setting with new adversaries to topple. She has taken them past the bounds of television and allowed them to fully explore the potential of their relationship. Hats off to Melissa Good and the gift she has given this genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missy is better than Good!, January 15, 2003

This review is from: Eye of the Storm (Paperback)
Missy is the single greatest writing dynamo to come out of fan fiction, perhaps ever. She never ceases to continue to amaze and astound. I've read all of her wonderful XWP and Dar & Kerry stories online and am always left wanting more. Romance, humor, thrills...enjoy. She also wrote possibly the best first script by a fan for an established tv series ever in the Xena episode "Legacy." You have to read these Dar & Kerry ubers in order beginning with the wonderful first novel, "Tropical Storm" which poses the breathless query, "Can I ask you a personal question?" in the most charming, sweetly sexy and unforgettable manner. D&K are one of the most endearing couples you will ever come across.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic uberfiction, February 21, 2002

If you like the Zena warrior princess show, you'll fall in love with the Dar and Kerry stories. Although different storylines completely (Dar and Kerry takes place in present day Florida) there are major similarities between the 4 characters (it's unberfiction..thats the idea.)Definately worth reading all of them!
