It is one of those albums that takes time to appreciate as one spin won't do any justice. After a few of them the picture gets much clearer and it's all of a sudden becomes hard to ignore a fact this record kicks some major ass.
All the songs featured here aren't traditionally long, which makes it easier to absorb them and very dynamic in nature. The album starts off with a fast track, then a slower yet more agressive track followed by a quiet song driven by a church organ, more hard rock tracks, a jazz song (who could expect that!), a cool instumental, a ballad (as a bonust track only) and an interesting 2 part conclusion song.
The overall sound is similar to one that had on 'Mission' where guitar is brought up front with keyboards to give the record a harder edge. And John West on vox never sounded better than he did on Eye Witness. Great work!
P.S. The album would defenitely appeal to those who prefer Mission and Fear's era. Those who expect to hear prog side of Royal Hunt that could be found in Paradox might not be happy with Eye Witness.

The first RH albums I have heared were Paradox and Moving Target. Now I can compare this album with all previously issued and to my taste it is the best. The whole album sounds like one composition, takes you and keeps into the music drive till the very end. The only stop is near the middle to let you breathe and smile at the Lounge and then to dissolve in the music again. I can't mark any song that is unnecessary or not in place. It is non-stop album that in fact is not tipical for this style of music, but if you are more then 40, if you liked Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and Uriah Heep but still didn't listen to the Royal Hunt this album is a good starting point.

Royal Hunt has produced a decent follow up to their previous album The Mission. The new record isn`t bad but it lacks standout tracks. It doesn`t quite match their previous efforts such as Fear or Moving Target. All in all, a good effort.
