Fascinating facts on a suitable level for the age group,
By
This review is from: Eye Wonder: Ocean (Hardcover)
As soon as we opened this book, my inquisitive 5-year-old was hooked. It is filled with interesting facts about ocean life, written on a level just perfect for ages 4-8 (the target age group for these books). The pictures are rich and colorful. I bought "Space", too, and now we often read these books instead of good-night stories. Each 2-page spread contains so much to see and discuss that it takes the place of a standard good-night story. So if your child is curious about the ocean and what lives in it, I would really recommend this book. (Even for older kids, frankly. My mother and I both enjoy it and learned from it. And it's much more interesting to read and look at than a typical story book.)

Absolutely the best book on oceans for kids,
By
This review is from: Eye Wonder: Ocean (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my 5 year old who loves the ocean. Believe me we have more books on the subject than I care to think about. This one is by far the best I have seen. The photographs are superb. The knowledge is good yet simple for kids to follow and understand. I think I am having as much fun reading it as my son does.

Wonderful!,

The photos alone are worth the price. Go nose-to-nose with a fangtooth; see an octopus's eggs festooning a cave; contemplate a dolphin's teeth. My 5-year-old daughter adores this book so much that she takes it to school for Show-and-Tell. Thanks to the clarity of the description of zones, she refers to the three levels of our house as the daylight zone, twilight zone, and midnight zone. The photos are vivid, the text is clear, and you can read as many or as few nuggets of information as your kid wants to hear - they're all self-contained. You just can't miss with this one.

Ocean,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Eye Wonder: Ocean (Hardcover)
This is an incredible book. This book as tons of information on almost every sea animal. If you are ever doing a report on sea life use this book. It tells you the different layers of the ocean and what animals live their. And if you are looking for more it even tells you the food these animals eat, the places they live (even in the arctic), their eniemes, and every detail about them. This book even contains elaborate, colorful, pictures of each animal in action. It also talks about the different plant life, what animals live in or on the plant life, and what animals eat the plant life. This is one of the best ocean based books I have seen. It feels like you have just taken a dive into the ocean.

I bought this book for our Grandson for his 4th birthday. He loves the ocean and is interested in all the animals in the ocean. The book has beautiful photo's, with explanations about each sea animal, and is easy to understand; especially for a four year old. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something educational for their child.

Perfect for First through Fourth Grades!,

My six-year-old niece is obsessed with ocean animals. This book was the perfect Christmas gift for her. She is a pretty good reader for her age, and this book is just right (upper first grade to second grade level decoding ability). She can read almost all the words all by herself, and loves the pictures. My sister says it's the one Christmas gift that has actually gotten used almost daily. There is just the right amount of text per page, with a paragraph for each smaller picture. I teach elementary students and I believe this book would be just right for first through maybe fourth grades if kids are reading alone, suitable for preschool if books are read aloud. Older kids will probably enjoy it but may want more details (look for the DK Eyewitness Series book "Ocean"), and younger kids may want to turn the page before all the text is read.

I love this book. I bought it as a gift for a seven year old boy I was tutoring who loves learning about the ocean. he loved looking at the pictures, which were beautiful! The text was easy for him to understand and in an year or so he will be able to start reading it on his own. Over all I love the book and will be buying more of the series to add to my own library.

Great for kids. Nice pictures, very colorful. A bit light on info, but then again, it is for kids.
