Barbara worked her way through different management and supervisory positions in the Maryland Court System, becoming the first African American to hold the positions of Chief Administrator of the Traffic Division in Baltimore City, Deputy Administrator of the District court of Baltimore City, and Deputy Administrator of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, which later became the Circuit Court. From humble beginnings as a victim of child abuse, welfare, drugs, and homelessness, Barbara pursued her dreams of earning a college degree. Eighteen years after she started college, she finally completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Baltimore, the first of many degrees to come. She went on to earn graduate degrees from Coppin State College and from the John Hopkins University.
Barbara is an entrepreneur, a radio talk show host, a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer, an educator, and an author. Her first book, "And Still I Cry," chronicles her troubled childhood and young adulthood. Her second book, "Yes You Can," focuses on entrepreneurship. "Eyes of the Beholder" is her first novel.
Barbara is a "trailblazer," in her gallant efforts to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, welfare dependency, and many of society's ills that plague our communities. Barbara has extended herself into many facets of the community and has founded or been a member of numerous organizations that assist women.
Like Rebekah, the main character in "Eyes of the Beholder," Barbara realized that God had given her a gift and it was up to her to cultivate it. In Barbara's words "It took a while, but I think I finally got it right".
