This review is from: Eyesight To The Blind (Audio CD)
These are Sonny Boy's earliest recordings for the Trumpet label. The sound quality is decent and the bonus is that there are 9 more songs than are listed on the Amazon site(which lists 16). You get Elmore James' original "dust my broom",as well as others from the years 1951-1954. The songs are presented in chronological order as they were released as singles. BB King appears on "from the bottom". This set and the "from the bottom" disc available on the Collectables label should complete your early Rice Miller collection. The liner notes have personel listings and a brief story of Sonny Boy, who as we all know, went on to greater fame on the Chess label, recutting some of the sides on this collection. There is an energy on these early songs, similar to the early recordings of the Wolf. The guitar sound is awesome. Very raw and exciting.

Sonny Boy was the guy that played with Jimmy Paige, Eric Clapton and influenced them and a couple of generations of musicians. Start here for the basics.
