Okay, but not great,

After watching this DK DVD and their Volcanoes DVD, I'm getting seriously disappointed with the DK brand. This one was okay, not great. It quickly glosses over important information, doesn't give any diagrams and sometimes doesn't even provide good corresponding visuals that would support the details given in the dialogue. Some of the footage is truly excellent and interesting, but unfortunately it often feels rushed in it's presentation, so that it's hard to feel like you got much out of it. It's like you're zooming from one thing to the next without much depth (granted, this is a short DVD, but still). The narrator is not great - kind of monotone and sometimes it's hard to hear him well. It also spends *A LOT* of time repeating over and over the "fact" that all these insects "adapted" and "evolved". If you have a problem with that I would steer clear of DK movies altogether because it is definitely a central theme.

Great video but disappointed in one thing,

This review is from: Eyewitness: Insect (DVD)
I bought this dvd because it has a praying mantis on the front, and my children LOVE praying mantids. However, other than the praying mantis that crawls across the screen when the menu comes up, there is no praying mantis on this dvd. We watched it through several times thinking we had missed it, but it is just not there. Considering they put a mantis on the cover, I would assume there would be one in the dvd, but there is not.
Other than that personal disappointment, the dvd itself is really good. I always enjoy Martin Sheen as a narrator and the footage of the insects is great.
