5.0 out of 5 stars book just FULL of information!
My nephew (4 yrs. old) just LOVES this book! We checked it out from the library .... and after returning it decided to order one for him. While it is not something that all children will like, if your child is into learning facts while at the same time LOVES trains, then this is one for him/her. I would highly recommand this book to add to your home library .... or if you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Train (DK Eyewitness Books)
The book is ok but the clip art disc was disappointing. Boring pictures of signals, antique clocktowers, suitcases, tickets and hardly any locomotive pictures or fun train pictures for kids to use on anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Train Lovers, June 20, 2005
This review is from: Eyewitness: Train (Hardcover)
This is a non-fiction book all about trains, from the oldest to the newest, with layers of detail. This book is part of the DK Eyewitness Books series. The history, the details, it's everything we come to expect from the DK Eyewitness Books series. If you liked trains, you'll read this at a much deeper level. Each page has a summary paragraph that tells kids what's on the page; older kids and much older kids will read every word of every caption to absorb every detail in this fantastic book. The littlest reader will love seeing all the pictures of the trains and train paraphernalia. There isn't much you won't learn about railroads and the history of trains in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Look at Trains, October 31, 1999
By A Customer
My four-year-old son and I checked this book out from our local library. The colorful pictures held his attention while I read the interesting facts and figures. The book is arranged so that readers of various ages can all enjoy the wonderful world of trains. We've decided to add this book to our family library.

Those of us who are older often didn't have books like this to learn from. I'm 58 and my father is 88 and we live in an old town with trains. Boy, did we enjoy this book! Coupled with a more pictoral/photographic book on trains, one can really learn a lot! Get it. You won't regret it!

Wow. What a book. The detail, the pictures, the information, the color reproductions, + a CD. Just awesome. Wish I'd had this one when I was
of that age.

5.0 out of 5 stars visual visual visual, September 1, 2010
How do you keep a car load of boys happy on a 28-day road trip?

My answer is: BOOKS. Lots and lots of books.

I have been reviewing the books that got us through our summer vacation, and I almost forgot TRAINS.

My kids are visual kids, and DK Eyewitness books just feed the information into their visual brains. Each two-page spread holds lots of photogrpahs and text blurbs -- not a daunting amount of reading, by any means. This text has a British flavour. My book came with a poster and a CD of clip art -- never looked at the clip art, but the poster is cool.

I liked this book for a road trip, because if you are waiting in a retaurant for the food to come, this is the kind of book you can read a little of this, a little of that -- anybody can pick it up and find something interesting.

I like the nice big size of the book, and apparently it is indestructible -- still in great shape despite HOURS (days) of engrossed reading.

I bought this for my friend's 6 yr old. He absolutely loves trains and was thrilled to look at all the detailed pictures. Although the writing is a bit too difficult yet, it's a book that he will be able to continue to use as he gets older.
