5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book on the F-16
I own other books in this series by Combat Legends and this one is just as good as the others, which are all great.

The Combat Legends series covers the aircraft from conception to 2003 (when the book was published).

I like the book because it covers why the aircraft was conceived in the first place as a agile, light-weight, simple fighter...

2.0 out of 5 stars A disapointment: short on details
I purchased this book expecting a detailed look at the workings of the F-16 and was disappointed.

The book provides little in terms of technical details on the F-16 and serves more as a general history of the aircraft. There isn't even a detailed listing of the aircraft's dimensions.

The book does cover a bit of the F-16s combat record with an account of an Israeli...

This review is from: F-16 Fighting Falcon (Combat Legend) (Paperback)
I purchased this book expecting a detailed look at the workings of the F-16 and was disappointed.

The book provides little in terms of technical details on the F-16 and serves more as a general history of the aircraft. There isn't even a detailed listing of the aircraft's dimensions.

The book does cover a bit of the F-16s combat record with an account of an Israeli pilot's air-to-air combat kill in an F-16. The account itself however isn't very riveting.

If I had looked through this book at a a bookstore, I would have passed on it.

This review is from: F-16 Fighting Falcon (Combat Legend) (Paperback)
I own other books in this series by Combat Legends and this one is just as good as the others, which are all great.

The Combat Legends series covers the aircraft from conception to 2003 (when the book was published).

I like the book because it covers why the aircraft was conceived in the first place as a agile, light-weight, simple fighter (basically in the performance mold of a MIG-21) that was to complement the F-15 Eagle and takes the reader on a journey from it's beginnings through operational history, combat operations, accomplishments, variants, and so on. There are plenty on high-quality photos throughout but this is not the book to own if your looking for a picture book. Specs are almost non-existent which is only a tiny flaw in an otherwise excellent book but if you want specs you can always visit websites that contain that info such as F-16.net and FAS.org, both excellent military website.

To summarize, if your looking for a history book on the F-16 then this book is definitely for you and if you do purchase this book you will purchase others in the series, their that interesting.
