5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!
I first picked up this CD after hearing "Look at Your Son Now"...twice. That's how catchy it was, that after only hearing it twice, I was willing to buy the CD. I actually wasn't expecting a lot, but this CD is probably THE catchiest thing I own, if not in the top 5...upon first listen, there are many songs that stand out, and I'm sure they'd all do fine as...

i'm a huge fan of pop punk music so don't get me wrong and think i hate this genre's fun and catchy songs. i love blink 182, sum 41, yellowcard, sugarcult, mest, green day, etc. but these guys are horrible. aside from "i told you so" and "crack ho", EVERY song on the album has the chorus just being the title of the song repeated over and over.

i like these...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!, August 5, 2004
This review is from: The F-Ups (Audio CD)
I first picked up this CD after hearing "Look at Your Son Now"...twice. That's how catchy it was, that after only hearing it twice, I was willing to buy the CD. I actually wasn't expecting a lot, but this CD is probably THE catchiest thing I own, if not in the top 5...upon first listen, there are many songs that stand out, and I'm sure they'd all do fine as singles. Anyway, here's the track-by-track breakdown:

1. Lazy Generation- A very true track, as soon as this one kicked in I was smiling, I knew this would be a great CD. Has a good chance to be the next single, as they already have a video for it. 9.75/10

2. Screw You- Kinda gets repetitive by saying "Screw You" for quite a long time, but it's still fairly good. 9/10

3. Look at Your Son Now- Even this one's repetitive, but you'll be humming it in your head for quite some time, as it just comes together so well, and is ridiculously catchy. 9.75/10

4. Glad That I Lost You- All about losing someone in a relationship, and not caring at all. Can easily be related to, and it's got a good beat too. 9.5/10

5. I Don't Know- The shortest song on the CD at 2:10, but probably one of the best. About how a teenager doesn't know what they're planning on doing, they just want to live for the moment. 10/10

6. All the Young Dudes- Doesn't really sound like the F-Ups at first, but then the chorus kicks in and you don't really care, as it's a good tune. The solo at the end is cool, but drags a bit. 9.25/10

7. Falling Down- Another catchy one, and the longest, at 3:35; also has quite a lot of swearing, which may detract from it, depending on your point of view. 9.5/10

8. Wrong the Right- THE catchiest song on here, seems like they want to do everything backwards. Instead of doing the right things, they just want to make everything wrong...well, except this CD (ha, ha, bad joke). 10/10

9. Told You So- Has some weird computer voice going on the background, but that doesn't mean it's not good. Much better than the Hives' "Hate to Say I Told You So." 9.5/10

10. Eye for an Eye- Probably tied for "Screw You" and "No, No, No" for worst on the album, but they all have a score of 9, which is something I've never done for any other CD. So that says something about this album. 9/10

11. Crack Ho- So friggin' catchy simply because of the long "Ho"s shouted throughout the song. Very good and pretty funny, too. 10/10

12. No, No, No- While I applaud the use of the cowbell at the beginning, it's not the best on the album...but that definitely doesn't warrant it being skipped over. 9/10

Overall, you will like this CD if you like good music...even if you've never heard of them, you'll become a fan, that's how good this CD is. Keep in mind this is a CD that earns its Parental Advisory sticker, so you might want to find an edited version if you're faint of heart. One other complaint would be how short it is, but hey, I'll take quality over quantity any day.

4.0 out of 5 stars whats with all the negative waves on reviews?, May 5, 2005
This review is from: The F-Ups (Audio CD)
I'm 54 years old, and I love the sound of this band, their humor, and their expression of timeless teenage problems. When I first heard the album, I told my daughter they were a cross of The Ramones and Simple Plan. The negative reviews seem to be from the live experience, which I cannot comment on. But the album itself, in my opinion, is kick-ass. I love it.

This CD was a breath of fresh air what with all the crap floodin the music industry today...I expect big things from the F-Ups but I hope they don't get to big and try to go completely mainstream. Buy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album!, March 4, 2005

Who ever called them posers... You all are morons. I'm sorry you are one directional about your music, but don't complain that they're posers just because they aren't up to your standards of punk rock. I found this to be one of the best cd's I've bought recently, and I get to see them live in about 10 hours. If you like other melodic punk bands you'll enjoy this disc as well. These guys are full of energy. Sure their lyrics have a repetition to them, but at least its catchy!

i like these guys singing styles and guitar stuff but they have no songwriting skills whatsoever. even the terrible songs i've written back when i was 12 were better than most of these. if you want to listen to a band that sounds like these guys but can actually write decent songs, i highly reccomend you listen to diffuser. please dont waste your money on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get F-ed Up!, April 26, 2007

Now if you've heard the FUps in the past, you've probably heard "Lazy Generation" on your copy of "Burnout 3: Takedown" a dozen to a million times...but that's not the whole package here. The brand spankin' new FUps CD is great. All the songs flow very well and sound awesome. I'm much more into classic rock, hard rock, and metal but I still hold on to my punk roots. This music is definately alternative punk rock at its finest. Very good for the money.

This review is from: The F-Ups (Audio CD)
OK everyone, listen up! This CD is some of the best music I've ever heard. I can't get enough of it! If you like Rancid and The Suicide Machines, then you will love The F-Ups. This CD is non-stop in your face punk music. It never skips a beat and it just freakin rocks. If you think otherwise then you can yell at me all you want at Sirmaximus555@aol.com. You all should join the Lazy Generation at their website. For all current members, i am "deathleprachaun" ROCK ON F-UPS!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best local bands, September 2, 2004
This review is from: The F-Ups (Audio CD)
The F-ups frickin' rock. Their cd is one of the best i've heard. They play great pop punk and rival the minneapolis veterans Dillinger Four. They are great live and I can't wait for them to come back to MN. Pick up their cd, its great and worth every penny.
