5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest racing game ever made...
Yeah, it's an old game for Super Nintendo, but it's the greatest racing game ever made in my opinion. I think the graphics are very impressive for its time, and it is blazing fast for a SNES racer. The music is also fantastic techno, the best music i've heard in a racing game, and better than most games in general. The vehicles are pretty cool, each having advantages and...

3.0 out of 5 stars No longer quite as shiny
F-Zero was the original mode-7 racing game for the Super Nintendo. Scrolling background layers give the illusion of a 3D track, and you pilot one of four vehicles across multiple courses.

The game's lost quite a bit of shine, mostly because Super Mario Kart took everything Nintendo learned from this experience and improved on it, including adding a two-player...

The vehicles are pretty cool, each having advantages and disadvantages. There are many difficulty settings, and many courses depending on the difficulty setting you chose. Beating the game on the hardest difficulty can be extremely difficult, especially at the later courses. The only rip I have on this game is that it should have been two players, and after you beat it so many times/ beat it on the hardest settings, it gets old (I played it non stop before i mastered it, now it isn't nearly as entertaining.) But for when it came out, it is definitely a classic, and to this day I think it is the best racing game ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Futuristic Racing Takes Off!, July 9, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: F-Zero (Video Game)
F-Zero is a fast-paced racing game set in the future...the 26th Century. This game was released for the SNES around the same time as Super Mario World and Super Mario Kart. There are four hovercars to choose from: blue, yellow, green, and magenta. They have names such as the Blue Falcon, Golden Fox, etc. Each car has different capabilities with top speed, acceleration speed, steering, braking, and boosting. There are three racing leagues: Knight, Queen, and King. In each league, there are five race courses, and five laps around the track completes the course. Placing in the Top 3 on the final lap in each course completes the circuit. Other settings include level of difficulty in racing: Beginner, Expert, Master, etc. I consider this game to be slightly above average in terms of playability, fun, and replay value. One definite downside is that it is a one-player game. It would have been better if it had been released with 2P capabilities. F-Zero is worth looking into if racing games are your thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC, FUN, June 3, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: F-Zero (Video Game)
One of the first game ever for the Super Nintendo. If you was born after 1985...than the you missed out on the NINTENDO/SUPER NINTENDO ERA. Believe me, After playing Atari's Pole Position and then Nintendo's RAD RACER....F-ZERO is a whole new way of racing. The colors, the music, the fun factor is GREAT, being in the early 90's...Kids cut school to Play F-ZERO. Classic game...collectors item!

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect example of Mode 7, December 5, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: F-Zero (Video Game)
F-Zero is known for showing off the Super Nintendo's extremely graphically impressive Mode 7 technology, which was beating off the Genesis's so-called Blast Processing.

You select from 3 cups (Or in this case, Leagues), each with five futuristic courses.

You start with 3 lives. If your car explodes, you will lose one.

Each of the tracks sort of have their own gimmicks, most notably Death Wind, mines, and ramps.

Once you cross the finish line, you can use an extra boost that you earn every time there.

If you are losing health, be sure to steer towards a healing area.

All of the gameplay would most likely resemble Super Mario Kart's gameplay, but this game came out right before it.

To me, it's one of the best racing game series ever.

Get F Zero for the Gamecube (play it on your Nintendo Wii, silly!)

and get F Zero for the Nintendo 64 (also available on the Wii virtual console)

get them today! best racing fun!

The best racing game ever!!! why? The controls. This game is very easy to control. Which is a huge thing that is missing from every other racing game I have ever played.

First of all, I am not a gamer. Not at all. I am totally uninterested in PC video games of any kinds (except for one game called Descent that I loved for a few months back in 1995 or something and never played again because our computer eventually crapped out and I could never get the disc to load on a different computer), and even the majority of console games were never much of a draw for me.

But F-ZERO is one of the half a dozen or so games that I really love, and definitely my favorite for the Super Nintendo. I'll admit that I never got really good at it, most of the tracks where you race the computer I am terrible at, but sitting around with a few buddies having a few beers and getting a little racing done is a hell of an evening even for me, and I'm pushing 30.

Here's something interesting. I live in China now, and on my first trip here (Feb. 2007), I lugged over my original NES, which I got for Christmas in 1985, along with about 20 games. Most frivolous item ever brought on an international trip! Then I lived here for a year, went home to visit for Christmas 2007, and on my return about a week ago, I brought along my Super Nintendo with F-ZERO, Mario Kart, Mario World, and Super Mario All Stars. These Chinese people aren't going to know what hit them.....

5.0 out of 5 stars STILL COOL, STILL AWESOME 9 OUT OF 10., November 22, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: F-Zero (Video Game)
F-Zero is probably one of the best racing games ever made aside from the classic Mario Kart. Racing against the other opponents is fun, racing by yourself is just as fun, the level designs are awesome, and the music is still great and goes well with its environments. The tracks are challenging, and the experience is very rewarding and fun. Simply, if you own a SNES go pick up a copy of this game.

ok i admit i got this game when it first came out so im old, and i know people are going to say its nothing compared to todays racing games, but for me nostalgia is everything. I love the action in this game and i especially love the music. The background graphics also evoke alien worlds really well making me feel like im on another planet. Ahh the good old days...
