Classic funk ode to a gold digging ex-flame.Cee Lo makes the anger of a jilted lover sizzle with his incredible range. Even with a couple of well placed asterisks, I dread the radio edit and what it will do to the flow of the song. ("My Beep," the sequel?)

Katy Perry, move over. The song of the summer/year has arrived. Cee Lo Green is a genius. Soul to spare. Don't let the title make you think that this a novelty song as it's anything but. I can't wait for the full CD to drop in October.

Funny...sweet....edgy....all wrapped up in a dangerously singable Motown homage,

I first learned of this song in an online Springsteen forum; not necessarily the place you'd expect to find folks hip to Cee Lo Green. I was slightly aware of his work with in his Gnarls Barkley collaboration (with Danger Mouse)."[...] You" is the best combination of fun and artistry I've heard with such provocative lyrics since Harry Nilsson, Frank Zappa or Warren Zevon. In this song, Cee Lo Green spins the tale of a jilted guy responding to his lost love and her new man. Beyond the title refrain and a handful additional hot button words, Green adds additional lyrics that are funny, sweet and dangerously singable. Think of Smokey Robinson or The Four Tops with a case of serious attitude in an homage to Motown classic hits. Will this song be for everybody? Clearly not. But if you have a sense of humor and reverence for strong musical influences, you'll find yourself listening to this song over and over (and be sure to find Green's two videos online...one lays out all the lyrics, and the other is set in a diner where I know you'll want to order the special!).
