5.0 out of 5 stars awesome
These guys are just awesome. Previous cd's Shiny Things and especially Weightless are some of my all time favourites. In some bars in the Netherlands and especially at the world famous TomTom Cafe (www.tomtom.tk) they played some great gigs. Haven't heard this new album though. Sorry. I'm getting it next week.

Sacramento's Jackpot portrays failure as a beautiful thing with their third effort, F+. Sounding like a mix between Supergrass, My Morning Jacket and Wilco, Jackpot assembles a solid album of tunes to drink to when feeling down.

Sacramento's Jackpot portrays failure as a beautiful thing with their third effort, F+. Sounding like a mix between Supergrass, My Morning Jacket and Wilco, Jackpot assembles a solid album of tunes to drink to when feeling down.

F+ starts off strongly with vocalist Rusty Miller grittily telling a tale of sadness and late-night walking on "Adventures Galore" and hits its high point with "Headlights," a five-minute rocker with twang.

Towards the middle of the album, however, F+ loses steam. Songs like "Euphoria" and "Dizzy" are lackluster, downhearted tales that are easily tuned out.

F+ finishes with the seven-minute "Charlie Watts is God," a Lennon-esque tribute to rock brightening up one's obsolete life.

While not quite alt-country, fans of Uncle Tupelo and Kings of Leon may find Jackpot worthwhile. Overall, F+ receives a B-, nothing earth shattering, but worth a listen.

For years upon years i had this band on a list of cd's i "should" buy. Many years and many albums later i finally got around to doing so and i'm very glad i did. The accolades these guys have gotten over and over are completely earned in my opinion. F+ doesn't disappoint on any level and to my ears, might actually be the most diverse of the three albums of theirs i own. (Weightless,Shiny Things and F+)

Musically, you can see why they went on tour with Cake, as they make music which grabs you but isn't crazily complex or anything. Russ Miller's voice also has an inviting quality to it and i'd imagine these guys would be great in a small club.

Russ Miller is hands down one of the most amazing musicians I know. He has continued to amaze me since the first day I met him when we where in eighth grade band together. I know few musicians who possess the innate talent that this man, and the musicians he plays with seem to possess. I not only recommend anything by Jackpot, I go so far as to say that it is musical genius that rivals the Beatles.

I saw these guys in concert with pepper and slightly stoopid. At first you're like are these guys for real. They actually have some catchy guitar riffs. The guitar player is a trip to watch play.
