As ever with EA Sports, the game is thoroughly buffed up with official team names, tracks, drivers, and the like, accompanied by their usual high standards of presentation. Frankly, it's hard not to feel sucked in from the minute the game boots up. The gentle learning curve allows you to opt for shorter, easier races before ultimately making your way to a full Formula 1 season, where you'll need to brace yourself for the incredible challenge posed by the computer-controlled opposition. Each race offers warm-up, qualifying, and pit decisions, and you can choose between a simulation or a more arcade-esque game.
It's not too easy to get to grips with at first, but once you're on track F1 2002 feels right, and it does give you the sense that you're in the middle of a full-fledged Grand Prix. Getting the most out of F1 2002 requires patience and practice, though, and if you aren't willing to apply both, then a more arcade-y racing game such as Burnout should be nearer the top of your list. Likewise, if you bought last year's not dissimilar effort on the PS2, then you may be better off seeking an alternative challenge. But if you're willing to put in the time, and you get a kick out of racing games, then F1 2002 is well worth considering. --Simon Brew

Not a Bad F1 Game,
This review is from: F1 2002 (Video Game)
Without a doubt, the F1 series of games on the PC are in a class above and beyond their console counter-parts, that said, F1 2002 for the Nintendo Gamecube is not a bad title. My biggest disappointment with this game was the lacking of a progressive scan mode for HDTV support. Simply put, this game is UGLY on HDTV. When you move the console over to a standard television set (S-Video or below), the graphics appear in much better format. Sound effects are nice, but nothing to write home about. Loading time is AWFUL and unlocking extras can be extremely tedious, but once you have run through the 25+ testing courses, the Grand Prix modes are excellent. It's a shame this game did not ship with the option to open up Grand Prix mode right out of the box as the 25+ testing runs are very draining.Overall, this is a decent console F1 game that is geared towards patient F1 fans only. Run-and-gun casual gamers will be very turned off by the slow load times and necessity to unlock all of the goodies.

BEST STINKING F1 GAME YOU CAN GET FOR PS2!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: F1 2002 (Video Game)
I own Formula One 2001, from a different company. That game doesn't even come close to it. F1 2002 has better graphics, better sound effects, better gameplay, better multiplayer: in short, it is a much better game. I imediately learned to love the new draft meter in the game. When your car moves into the slipstream of another car, the meter goes up and when you move out to pass, the screen blurs, the sounds quiet down, and it looks like your head is forced back onto the seat. Other effects, like damage, are very good. You can break just about every part of your car. Also, the driver pulls off his visor protector in mid race, which is cool. All the attention to detail is amazing, and really elevates this game above other racing titles(except Gran Turismo 3). EXCLLENT RACING GAME

I own this game. It is alot of fun. I enjoy watching F1 on TV. My favorite driver is Michael Schumacher, the 7 time world champ. I saw the US and the Canadian GPs over the summer. It has some math in it with the timing system. Over all, best game I've ever owned!!!!
