Broan economy 40000 series 36-inch under cabinet mount range hoods feature a two-speed fan, a rocker-type fan and light control, and a polymeric blade and light lens. These range hoods are 160 cfm and have a 6.5 sone rating, for quiet operation. With this kitchen range hood, you have the option of ducting vertically or horizontally. The mitered sides and hemmed bottom ensure safety and clearance of the cabinet door. Keyhole mounting slots make the range hood easier to install. Four-way convertible; installs ducted 3-1/4-inch-by-10-inch (vertical and horizontal), 7-inch round (vertical) and non-ducted.

This range hood moves plenty of air for our needs (it does move fewer CFS than some other models - which might be an issue depending on how you cook). It was easy to install and works as promised (I am using the top 7" round vent option). My only complaint is that the box isn't well padded, so the hood arrived with a dent on the front. It's too heavy to bother shipping back for something that is only cosmetic, but it was disappointing. The light cover isn't very fancy, but we bought some of the smaller compact florescent bulbs and one fit under the cover with no problems. The plastic vent cover for the front is a bit tricky to snap on, but once I figured it out it wasn't loose at all (it sits on the hood without being snapped into place, which may explain the complaint of another reviewer). I love the simplicity of this hood, and the number of installation options. Overall, it looks and works as I had hoped and I can still talk easily while the fan is on.

I was looking for a new hood vent for my rental and after shopping Lowes and Home depot I found this unit at a much lower price.Easy installation and I was surprised how quiet the fan was.I highly recommend this product.

This is my second one. The first I returned because of a prominent dent in the front. I sent it back and got a refund. I ordered another unit and it came with a smaller, less visible dent, and I decided to keep it. Both range hoods came in flimsy factory cartons with small pieces of fitted foam inserts. The foam was badly broken in both shipments and the boxes had external damage. I don't recommend this purchase.
