Great photos, book fell apart,

F4F - Wildcat Walk Around
I like the photos and captions of the F4F Wildcat very much. The pages are of high glossy paper, the B&W photos are clear. Excellent color photos of restored Wildcats. This book covers the whole series. There are also line drawings, 3 pages of color plates to show paint schemes used by the US, British and French. Built by Grumman "Iron Works" it was just enought to hold the fort against the Japanese Zero's until newer designs came along. The plane certainly was more rugged than this book, which fell apart after one reading. Maybe that's why it was on sale. Having said that, it is a very good book about the Wildcat. 5 star material less 2 stars for quality of the binding. |
