I called Belkin Tech support @ (310) 751-5100 to ask them this since I see this one selling for $12.00 less than F8Z492. He said the P means nothing. They are exactly the same units. He believes the difference is only in the packaging. Maybe the P does not have retail packaging??? But that should be it.

Power adapter reads:
INPUT: 100-240v ~ 50/60 hZ 0.2A

I don't know if it's Autovolt, but being that it shows the range there...

This have an internal battery that is charged with the power adapter, or does it have to be plugged into AC all the time? I'd love to use this in my car.

I have 3 of these now, and paid around $20 for each of them, P, Z and ?. They all work very well, it's something I show off when I can.
