This is a flatout good read - It kept me turning the pages well into the wee hours. Full of action and intrigue it will carry you along as terrorists penetrate the Homeland to begin carrying out a very plausable and troubling attack. However, it doesn't end there. If you like Tom Clancy, Dale Brown, or Richard Herman
you will enjoy the adventure that James Huston has laid out for you. Buckle up!

I thought the book was very interesting as well as fast pace. It could have been a little longer, mainly because it was so good. I would have liked a little more story behind the terrorists preparations prior to entering the school, but other than that I would have to say this is a very excellent book. Anyone who has served in the military will love this book, and even if you haven't I would say give it a shot!

I enjoyed the book for the most part, although I was left wanting more at the end. I kept waiting for there to be more to the plot. The opening sequence didn't seem to fit with the rest of the book, Vlad's story was incomplete or too glibly finished, and the setup for the climax (the two attacks) seemed rushed as did the climax itself (or should I say anti-climax). I wanted more about the school and the training, more development of some of the secondary characters like Thud and the UFO fellow or Thud's dad. In short, there was lots of potential, but a lot of it was left on the table.

This book is outstanding. I couldn't put it down. It was even better than Flash Point in my opinion. The plot developed nicely and the characters were described more realistic than many books do. I hope this becomes a movie. I reccommend this bok to all ages.

I agree with the publisher's weekly review. This novel was action-packed, which saved the book, but the story plot was not well-developed. The author crammed too much into not enough pages, which took away from the development of the story. The flow of the story was wrecked, because the author concentrated too much on the action. If it weren't for the ammount of pure action and suspense in this novel, Fallout would have destroyed Huston's flow of high-quality techno-thrillers.

Exciting book to read. Couldn't put it down. Hope someone makes a movie of this one !!

Much to my chagrin, Fallout is a step down for Huston. His prevoius novel, Flash Point reeked with authenticity that this novel lacked. Being a former F-14 pilot, he knew a lot about the US Navy and its fignter squadrons. In this novel, he deals with material that he is not comfortable with. He writes of MiG-29's and the Pakastani Air Force and thus is not a fleshed out with detail. On top of that, the characters are not well developed, and nor is the plot. It does not have the depth and breadth of his previous novel, which also contains a love story that this novel lacks. Huston should stay with what he is comfortable with and write more about Naval Avation, possibly even with a sequel to Flash Point, with the same main characters. If you want to read great avation fiction, read Flash Point or a Stephen Coonts novel. Avoid this skeleton of a novel.

An entertaining book as long as the reader is not too picky about factual information. Some parts of the plot are underdeveloped.......foreign military protocal, business plan implementations...'exec's cannot be too busy'. Not Huston's best work.

I enjoyed the experience of reading this book. I found myself early into the book hooked. Definitely worth reading and easily recommended to anyone.

Semi-implausible but a fun twist on the Clancy template for military actioners.

"Stick" is a highly regarded TOPGUN instructor at the Navy's new home in Nevada. He is reprimanded
after a careless midair contact causes the loss of an F-18 and his instructor rating. His next move is to
pitch the idea for a private air combat school to the Undersecretary of Defense who to his credit sees the
obvious problems with such a stupid idea and summarily throws Stick and Company out of the Pentagon
posthaste. However, the Usec has been compromised by a bad divorce and mounting debt and falls prey
to a slimy deal offered by an ultra-slimy rep of the Pakistani gubment. Next thing you know, the Usec is
falling all over himself to approve the opening of the school on an abandoned base in Tonopah, NV and
the lease of 10 MIG-29's to accommodate the first class which shockingly includes 4 pilots from the Pak
Air Force.

Along the way, Stick obtains instant financing of $100M and adopts a Russo-German maintenance crew
headed by a former Russian MIG-29 instructor (Vlad the Impaler). Ghee, where could all this go wrong?

Anyway, with all the glaring plotholes and real world inconsistencies this is a fantastic thrill ride with
incredible air combat sequences leading to a mindbending climax that will give you a solid glimpse of
just how duplicitous even our alleged allies can be in the intelligence community. Now I'm praying for
a Part II where Stick gets to bomb the crap out of the guy that manipulated the outcome of this thing.
