Book Description

FAR/AIM: Federal Aviation Regulations & the Aeronautical Information Manual November 2001
Pilots, flight crew, and aviation maintenance technicians are required to keep current with the latest civil aviation directives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This series presents the pertinent information gathered from the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), and the full Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), combined into one easy-to-use reference. All regulations that have changed since the last release are clearly marked and indexed to provide a clear listing of subject matter and refer pilots and staff to the correct paragraph or regulation number. The FAR parts are reproduced in reset type for easier reading and the AIM features detailed, full-color graphics. In addition, a suggested study list of regulations and AIM paragraphs is provided, along with a helpful list of FAA, National Transportation Safety Board, National Ocean Service, and Flight Standards District Office addresses and telephone numbers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Professionals choose ASA, February 22, 2002

This review is from: FAR/AIM (2002) (FAR/AIM: Federal Aviation Regulations & the Aeronautical Information Manual) (Paperback)
When I was in groundschool at a Part 121 scheduled airline, I think I was the only one in class with the Jepp edition of FAR/AIM. After looking over my roommate's ASA edition, I could see why. I decided I liked it much better than the FAR/AIM from Jeppesen. ASA seems to be the choice of the professional pilot.

For some reason, Jepp has gone to a crazy 8.5" x 11" format for 2002. This book was already big enough without making it bigger! Also, if you need Part 135 -- beware -- the Jepp edition does not include it. ASA uses a two-column format for the FARs that I think is much more readable than the single-column Jepp format. Jepp also includes a few editorial ads for other products in the text, which seems really cheesy (ex: advertising Jeppesen Weather Services in the middle of the weather section of the AIM).

This FAR/AIM has color diagram for runway markings, loran coverage diagrams, etc. The McGraw Hill version does not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Jepp or McGraw Hill's editions, November 4, 2002

This is by far the best FAR/AIM in publication, I have tried all the others but came back to stick with ASA as my yearly FAR/AIM, they also provide mid year updates and overall I find ASA products to be superior to others.
