Book Description

From New York Times and USA Today Bestseller, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

DAKOTA DANE IS ABOUT TO TELL A LIE SHE'LL WISH SHE HADN'T. Because her lie is dangerous, sexy, and just showed up on campus, angry as hell and looking for her...

Ugly duckling Dakota Dane has a new boyfriend. He’s male-model gorgeous, built to perfection, wealthy, and smart. He is also a lie. As in, 100% fabricated. Does it matter that Dakota has a perfectly good reason for making him up? Not really. Not when Dakota’s made-up boyfriend shows up in the flesh.

So is she crazy? All signs point to maybe. But the walking, talking enigma with the deadly vibe isn’t about to give her any answers or let her out of his sight. And with college just around the corner, Dakota fears her dreams of a bright future have just collided with a dark rabbit hole…

Such a simple word, isn’t it? But there’s nothing simple about it. Not for me, anyway. Not when it comes to this man. I have no idea who the hell he is, where he came from, or what he wants, but his dangerous vibe tells me I should run away and never look back.

But I can’t.

Because as much as he scares the hell out of me, his sinfully dark gaze and what it does to me is ten times more powerful.

And I know I want something I shouldn’t. I should want my sanity. I should want college and parties and this dream I’ve waited for my whole life. I should want to keep that promise I made myself back in high school to make something of my life.

But now I’m looking at him, his powerful body, his predatory gaze, his sinfully shaped lips, and I know I’ll never be able to walk away. So I simply keep lying to myself about there being a reason for all this. I simply tell myself it must be fate.

Editorial Reviews

From Phoenix Booksite
Well, we usually get away with it, don't we? And no one becomes the wiser. But in Dakota's case? By some miracle the subject of her lie shows up and her fate changes forever. FATE BOOK has terrific characters, suspense, and a sizzling hot male lead. This is Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's first New Adult, Contemporary novel that doesn't end in a cliffhanger. Whew! I was hooked from page one.

About the Author

New York Times and USA Today, bestselling author of Paranormal and Contemporary Romance. Before taking up a permanent residence in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mimi spent time living near NYC (became a shopaholic), in Mexico City (developed a taste for very spicy food), and Arizona (now hates jumping chollas but pines for sherbet sunsets). Her love of pre-Hispanic culture, big cities, and romance inspires her to write when she’s not busy with kids, hubby, work, and life…or getting sucked into a juicy novel. Or hosting the Man Candy Show on! (Be very afraid!) She hopes that someday leather pants for men will make a big comeback, and that her writing might make you laugh (or give you a mini-vacay) when you need it most.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Mimi *le sigh August 15, 2013

This book makes me think Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Honestly. What can't the woman write? I'm so sickly in love with her writing style its almost pathetic. I loved the characters. They were so fun to get to know. This book definitely is one you want to pair with a fine Spanish cheese. Drunken Goat, Manchego, or Mahon are acceptable. Not only is this book like a fine wine, Santiago is to die for. Loved the little twist that kept you reading more to figure it out!!

Warning: this book may make you grin like a sappy idiot.

this is probably the sorriest review ever written ugh

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done, Mimi, well done! August 20, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Mimi Jean proves that she doesn't need Cimil to write a kicka$$ book!! (Sorry Cimil) This book is an adrenaline rush disguised as a book. Dakota Dane is a seemingly ordinary eighteen year old dealing with being an outsider even with outsiders. In an effort to deal with her social awkwardness she lies about having a boyfriend and grabs some random photo from the internet. Remorse sets in the next day, until her made up boyfriends suddenly appears in her life very real and very yummy. The rest of the story that unfolds has you wondering if maybe the whole book is crazy. Even though Dakota is an eighteen year old girl, I still found myself connecting with her. Sympathizing with her when she questioned her sanity; panicking when she panicked; crying when she cried and laughing with her and at her every step of the way. Then there is Santiago. If the man on the cover is any indication, YUM doesn't begin to cover it. Though he is very run of the mill hero for a story, he is a great character that helps give Dakota a run for her sanity. The other characters in the story serve a purpose but in the end these are the only two characters that matter.

The story itself is where the adrenaline rush comes from. It is not your standard, here are your characters, and here is the plot. At first the story gradually unfolds but never enough that made it predictable. If anything once one question was answered there were tons more unanswered. Towards the end of the book I felt like I was in a race I didn't even realize I was running. Fantastic job with story's tempo and plot reveals which made for one hell of a ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mimi connects with her readers yet again. August 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I didn't know what to expect when I started reading Fate Book....Well no that's not true, I expected a hot leading guy, which I got and I I guess I expected lots of sex I got a surprise, I wasn't disappointed by that surprise was nice to see Mimi try her hand at something new.

I'm a HUGE fan of Mimi, so I'd read anything she writes, I love her style of writing, the words she uses to describe her stories, she connects with her readers 100%.

I tried not to read other reviews before I read it, I wanted to read and have my own thoughts, rather then have other people's idea of the book floating in my head, so I didn't know it was a none paranormal, and a little way through I got confused, I wasn't sure where it was all leading to....i thought hmmm who is this guy? is he real? how did he know what she was dreaming about? is he supernatural?.....Well the answer started to become clear....and I started to click more to the story...and loved the direction the story went.

Although I LOVE Mimi's paranormal books I found I enjoyed the new direction she took....obviously she didn't want to be known just as a paranormal author and I think Fate Book dose that for her.

I gave this book a 5 would be nice to hear that this book gets added to, but if it didn't, I wouldn't be too disappointed cuz it didn't leave you wondering, no cliff hanger, no unanswered questions, so we are not left hanging

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast quick read... August 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While I enjoyed reading this new book, it didn't make me laugh out loud like the "Accidentally" series. I say this because it is Mimi's sense of humour in her writing that I love and that makes me continue reading her novels!! This book is more of a "haha that's kinda cute" funny, because her main characters are young.

Her portrayal of 18 year old Dakota was spot on. In fact, I think it almost overshadows her leading man and makes it hard to believe that he has the experience he needs at 23(trying hard not to give anything away) to get the job done. The first half of the book you think she is going to pull something paranormal out of her hat, but she doesn't it. Mimi keeps it fast paced and moving along.

So not my favorite, but I will keep on reading!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Myyyyy August 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As much as I love Mimi Jean's Accidentally series......she really, really needs to write more of this style of book!

I wasn't sure what to expect, as I too have been hooked on her previous series. I buy & start reading the day they come out :-) I purchased this one not knowing exactly what I would get, but was pretty sure I would like it. Not even......LOVED IT! I thought it might be a quick read novella....NOT! When I wasn't sleeping or working, I was reading this book. I loved the style it is written in, the characters were great & I did actually get dizzy trying to keep up with all the twists. At some points, I had to go back & reread to make sure I had the story straight, I think I was speed reading for a bit :-)

This is a mystery, teen angst, romance & a who dunit book. You will be trying to figure out who all the players are & what all is going on, but the story between Dakota & Santiago will keep your attention. He made me crazy with all his demands, so I know why Dakota wanted to smack him all the time! lol

This book is worth your time. I would also suspect if Mimi Jean keeps writing these amazing books, they will be harder to get, as her time will be in demand.

Mimi Jean, your stories are worth so much more than we as readers pay for the privilege to read them. Thank you so much for sharing your stories with the rest of us. I really do hope you keep writing along this style of books. I know I will be reading this one again, it was just that good!
