About the Author

New York Times and USA Today, bestselling author of Paranormal and Contemporary Romance. Before taking up a permanent residence in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mimi spent time living near NYC (became a shopaholic), in Mexico City (developed a taste for very spicy food), and Arizona (now hates jumping chollas but pines for sherbet sunsets). Her love of pre-Hispanic culture, big cities, and romance inspires her to write when she’s not busy with kids, hubby, work, and life…or getting sucked into a juicy novel. Or hosting the Man Candy Show on! (Be very afraid!) She hopes that someday leather pants for men will make a big comeback, and that her writing might make you laugh (or give you a mini-vacay) when you need it most.

This book makes me think Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Honestly. What can't the woman write? I'm so sickly in love with her writing style its almost pathetic. I loved the characters. They were so fun to get to know. This book definitely is one you want to pair with a fine Spanish cheese. Drunken Goat, Manchego, or Mahon are acceptable. Not only is this book like a fine wine, Santiago is to die for. Loved the little twist that kept you reading more to figure it out!!

Warning: this book may make you grin like a sappy idiot.

this is probably the sorriest review ever written ugh

Mimi Jean proves that she doesn't need Cimil to write a kicka$$ book!! (Sorry Cimil) This book is an adrenaline rush disguised as a book. Dakota Dane is a seemingly ordinary eighteen year old dealing with being an outsider even with outsiders. In an effort to deal with her social awkwardness she lies about having a boyfriend and grabs some random photo from the internet. Remorse sets in the next day, until her made up boyfriends suddenly appears in her life very real and very yummy. The rest of the story that unfolds has you wondering if maybe the whole book is crazy. Even though Dakota is an eighteen year old girl, I still found myself connecting with her. Sympathizing with her when she questioned her sanity; panicking when she panicked; crying when she cried and laughing with her and at her every step of the way. Then there is Santiago. If the man on the cover is any indication, YUM doesn't begin to cover it. Though he is very run of the mill hero for a story, he is a great character that helps give Dakota a run for her sanity. The other characters in the story serve a purpose but in the end these are the only two characters that matter.

The story itself is where the adrenaline rush comes from. It is not your standard, here are your characters, and here is the plot. At first the story gradually unfolds but never enough that made it predictable. If anything once one question was answered there were tons more unanswered. Towards the end of the book I felt like I was in a race I didn't even realize I was running. Fantastic job with story's tempo and plot reveals which made for one hell of a ride.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading Fate Book....Well no that's not true, I expected a hot leading guy, which I got and I I guess I expected lots of sex I got a surprise, I wasn't disappointed by that surprise was nice to see Mimi try her hand at something new.

I'm a HUGE fan of Mimi, so I'd read anything she writes, I love her style of writing, the words she uses to describe her stories, she connects with her readers 100%.

I tried not to read other reviews before I read it, I wanted to read and have my own thoughts, rather then have other people's idea of the book floating in my head, so I didn't know it was a none paranormal, and a little way through I got confused, I wasn't sure where it was all leading to....i thought hmmm who is this guy? is he real? how did he know what she was dreaming about? is he supernatural?.....Well the answer started to become clear....and I started to click more to the story...and loved the direction the story went.

Although I LOVE Mimi's paranormal books I found I enjoyed the new direction she took....obviously she didn't want to be known just as a paranormal author and I think Fate Book dose that for her.

I gave this book a 5 would be nice to hear that this book gets added to, but if it didn't, I wouldn't be too disappointed cuz it didn't leave you wondering, no cliff hanger, no unanswered questions, so we are not left hanging

I am totally surprised by all the great reviews this book got. Although I somewhat enjoyed the story-line, everything else just seems to be a complete fail to me. It's an adult book - but really nothing really adult-like happens til about 75% into the book, take out the two sex scenes, which both were probably about 5 sentences long, and you have yourself a young adult book. I felt there was no chemistry between the characters and I wasn't a big fan of Dakota, she didn't fit the bill for a girl who was bullied for so long, same goes for the 30 second sex scene for a girl who is innocent. Some scenes seemed to be rushed through, or important scenes were completely left out, while others dragged on. The epilogue is probably the best two pages in the book!!

Dakota has never had many friends. Only one since she was a young girl. Now she's 18 and she's tired of everyone always making fun of her and decides to stand up for herself. When the main girl who bullies her embarrasses her in class about an English essay detailing how the students spent their spring break, Dakota lies and says she spent it with her new boyfriend. Now she's got to keep the lie going and posts a hot model's picture she finds on the internet as her new boyfriend on her Facebook page. When she wake-up the next day, Santiago, her made up boyfriend, has shown up at her school as if the lie is true. She can't believe it and thinks she's going crazy. But there is more to Santiago than she knows. I don't want to give away too much, so you'll have to read to see what happens. Totally worth it!

This book is divided into three parts. The first part reads a little slow - but please stay patient, because the second and third parts are really good. This book just gets better the further along you read. There are twists and turns and things Dakota learns that cause her to realize her life isn't all she thought it was. I loved Santiago! He treats Dakota with tough love, but soon enough you learn why and you also begin to want these two together for real. Santiago's presence in her life is extremely important.

Great stand alone book with a nice HEA. So glad I found and read this one.
