You can find all what's presented in coaching youth soccer sites but in a far better way.

As an UEFA PRO' coaching licence holder I would recommend this fantastic book to every advanced level coach who wants to know how pro teams apply their tactics.

It shows with great detail how Barcelona tended to build up from the back and overcome the opposition's pressing by finding the free player.

This book was an opportunity to learn how the best side of the world ever, apply their tactics in the attacking phase and I doubt that there will be a team equally succesfull to this Barcelona side. When I bought this book I didn't expect to be so insightfull and detailed. Very well organized as it breaks the complex parts of the playing style down to simple, so the coaches can better understand why certain things happen during the games. The attacking phase as well as the negative and positive transitions are presented in every detail and it is obvious that there was a lot of time spent on this book. As an UEFA PRO' coaching licence holder I would recommend this fantastic book to every advanced level coach who wants to know how pro teams apply their tactics. Congratulations to the author.

it contains excellent analysis of Barcelona's offensive. however it would have been nice if it included drills and/or progressive drills to train. The basis of this book purported for advanced coaches and teams.

I have a fair understanding of soccer and I know some books are better that others. But this one is a real joke. It met none of my expectations. The author starts by backing himself up by having viewed "all games in the 2010-2011 season creating a set of highly detailed notes on each." He says also that he watched some games over 20 times. At this point we say, wow, this is gonna be dense and well analysed. Wrong. It's bad. Where are those notes?? Chapter 2 is the philosophy of Barcelona, sounds awsome right? One puny little page. Then he explains some attacking techniques such as: "Pass and move combinations", kind of things we learn on every site of coaching youth soccer. The whole book is built on the same frame. One or two page per subject with some black and white images of fake players standing on the pitch and a bunch of arrows. The review of "mark szabo" is so true. It's a if I watched one game, put some drawings on paper, some arrows and some few (very few) general comments on it. That's it. That's the book. I would expect having more details explanations, some concepts, some quotes, something to read. Nop. The comments are so small and empty of content. You can find all what's presented in coaching youth soccer sites but in a far better way. It's a disappointing book, it's hard to image how. You will have a lot more on tactical analysis by looking at a game and by reading any coaching sites. I am wondering what the other customers learned with it.

lots of spelling errors and other editorial errors in the book. most of the tactics can be seen in every game they play and don't really need to be drawn out for someone to understand them. the book doesn't explain why Barcelona do the things they do it just explains what they do. expected a lot more out of the book

still a good book though and its great for people who are new to soccer tactics
