Thank goodness for this unit. I have over 100 Nintendo games and couldnt play a single one unless I blew in it, cleaned it, licked it and messed with it in my NES for 15 minutes, then it would freeze on me 10 minutes later. This "cheap" unit works PERFECT on the very first power up. No more stress just to play a NES game. I love it and its only like $20. Who cares if its not a "real NES", it plays all my games perfectly and that is what matters. Thanks FAMICOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Other reviewers are correct in noting that it is extremely light-weight, so care should be taken in where it's kept (i.e.: don't let the dog get to it). And the loading mechanism is unnecessarily difficult. The machine doesn't feel strong, yet it takes a little force to get the games in and out. I'm trying to be patient and finesse the games in and out, so I'm glad I was forewarned by other Amazon reviewers to approach with caution.
Other than that, I am just so happy to be able to play these old games. It's both comforting and depressing to know I still kind of stink at most of them (for some reason I always fared better at Sonic the Hedgehog and the Sega games, but I digress). The console is very easy to set up. Just plug it in, stick the cords into the tv's AV inputs, and you're all set. Regarding the ongoing debate about the sound quality, I am 100% with those who say "what's the big deal?" I don't mind the sound quality, or even notice much of a difference from how I remember it being twenty years ago. I generally turn the sound off anyway and pop in a cd. (Another reviewer was spot on: Tom Petty and Mario Bros. makes for a great evening!) For the price, I've found this to be a great way to reconnect with some old memories (and get back to playing video games the way I remember them). So, so far, so good. Both nostalgic and just plain fun, I hope this device lasts me a long time.

This little thing is great. It's played all my games so far with real problems. The reviewer below me claimed his can't play Mega Man 3 but mine played it. It takes standard NES controllers and doesn't require "blowing" carts thanks to it's decent pin connectors. (Even though blowing does nothing in the first place, people just think it does.) The only problem I've noticed is some games (such as Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man 3) don't sound quite the same, but is no major problem... Most people wouldn't notice anyway. Also, when you first get it, the pins are very stiff and it'll take a bit of effort to put in or remove carts until it breaks in a little. Oh yeah and the controllers it comes with are great too, but very lightweight. If your NES pins are worn out or you're tired of cleaning carts all the time, I'd definitley recommend a Yobo. I picked one up at a local game shop for 40 bucks.

this one is worth it if you have tons of nes carts around..you dont have to clean the games as much maybe 1 out of 10 might not work..its so tiny and comes with 2 controllers..sure its not nintendo but it sure as hell beats cleaning the games 100 times jus to play it

This console is awsome. Dont get confused: many people say the sound is messed up (different than the regular NES), but I have been playing NES for 20 years, and I couldnt tell any sound difference. The main difference is the picture quality... This one actually looks good. No fuzzy crap on the screen, no games crashing, games starting on the first time (no flashing screen), everytime. If you always wanted a nintendo that worked, here it is. Watch out for the seller "funplus" or something like that. I had to file a claim with amazon to get a refund. He was selling some off brand junk. Make sure you get the offical YOBO. ITS MONEY!!!!

Playing a NES game again,

This FC Yobo NES machine is awesome. I didn't even have to blow in my carts like I used to, or shake them, or anything - just put them into the machine and played. I love the led light too.
Only one complaint - no release system for the games. You end up almost yanking them out, but you don't want to yank them out. It's an art you'll have to learn with this system. Other than that I can still play Duck Hunt with my gun and everything. I feel like I'm 8 again. @ the reviewer above: By no means did I try to say that this will ruin your cartridges. No no no, not at all. I have had one since it released with a bunch of games bought from different people at Amazon and Ebay, almost all working with my Yobo (one seller sold me a broken game). No, this system WILL NOT HARM YOUR GAMES. You just have to kinda yank 'em out until the system wears in and then it's not so bad.

This system is NOT the old one by any stretch. It is small, looks and feels a little cheap. Also, the controller's addition "rapid fire" buttons don't do much for gameplay.
But, now that the cons are out of the way, don't let them sway you from the awesome experiences that Famicom's product can deliver. The system works when my other one didn't (thus, we don't have any horizontal loading Nintendo's after the NES, this was a flawed design). Further, the price makes it an affordable proposition. I always had it in mind to pick up another NES system, but it was never worth the $40 + that people wanted (usually more than 40 for something in good condition). So, if you can find an NES for a good price, I would still take that because it makes the aesthetic experience better. But, for something reliable that makes the right stuff appear on the screen (and that's what really counts, right?), then get this system. In conclusion, don't listen to the rubbish about people not liking the sound quality. Two reasons: 1) the original soundtracks for these games were not good. Do you listen to MIDI files on your computers? No, so put the game on mute, pop in some Tom Petty and listen to real music while you play the good games. 2) I have never experienced anything but minor changes in the sounds. I am sure that major differences do exist, but from 1) above we can see that it doesn't really matter anyway. Hope you find this helpful. God Bless

Yobo is not all that great,

I bought one of these YOBO things last year because I was like many of you. My old NES was dying and could not play my games like it used to. The Yobo is not that great, really. It plays most of my games, but at the same time, it doesn't play some of them. For some reason, it won't play games like Mega Man 3, Bad Dudes, Ice Climber, etc. while they play perfectly fine on my old NES.
The real anwser is to replace the pin-connectors on your old NES, and to keep your games clean!! Stop blowing on them!! Get some rubbing alcohol and some q-tips to clean those games!

This product is awesome. I can now play my Nintendo games again. The one I missed the most was Donkey Kong. Since you can't find it anywhere else. My only gripe is that the cartriges are a little tough to get out of the slot. And sometimes a little tough to get in, also. But, other than that, it brings me back to being little again. I LOVE it!
Revision: It stopped working after about 2 months of little use. I have since packed it away. I almost wish I had waited a little while longer to place my review. It would turn on and I would get nothing but a blue screen. Had horrible flashbacks to when I had to try to get my old Nintendo to work. I would spend hours trying to get it to work before, and I refuse to have to do that now to a system that is only 2 or 3 months old to me. Especially a system I supposedly bought new. I would change my stars, but it seems it won't let me. In all honesty, this was an awesome system when it worked. But, now it doesnt. Seems like a cheap machine if you ask me. It felt cheap and easy to break when I was setting it up. The cartridges were hard to get out, and it was on a shelf, and when it finally let the cartridges go, I would always hit my nuckles on the shelf above it. Bruised them once. The game played smoothly, and everything. The controllers had short SHORT cords, so you couldn't sit far from the tv.

Complete NES revisited,

This little machine works a wonder! Every game that I still have works like frickin' 1989! A little tricky pulling cartridges out, but if you're careful you should not have any problems whatsoever. Other reviewers are complaining about the sound on this system, but mine works okay so far, dont see the big deal with that.
