TEAC FD235HFA240/S Floppy Drive,
By Bill (Dahlgren, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: TEAC FD235HFA240/S 3.5" 1.44MB Gray Floppy Drive Internal (Personal Computers)
This is a very good drive at an inexpensive price. I have installed this drive a few days ago and I have put it to the test reading, writing, and erasing from over 75 disks with no problems. This is basically just a replacement for an existing drive in your computer. There are no instructions, ribbon cables or software shipped with the drive. Windows will install a generic driver for the drive and if you are building a computer, ribbon cables are easy to purchase. This drive was very easy to install and I did not have to configure IRQ's or change any CMOS settings. I recommend this drive to anyone with a failed floppy drive reguardless of computer skills.

These Teac drives are great. I have them for about 2 months and no problems. Just remember - No cable comes with purchase so make so you have a cable.

good efficient product,
This review is from: TEAC FD235HFA240/S 3.5" 1.44MB Gray Floppy Drive Internal (Personal Computers)
Just installed this drive yesterday, and haven't had any problems. Floppy drives are fairly obsolete these days, but they're a useful tool to any college, or high school student, as we require the ability to move files quickly, and everyone doesn't have Zip drives. I definitely reccomend this product to anyone looking for a replacement drive (like I was). Its cheap, and it works...two important things. One warning, to all you not-so-computer savvy folks out there...it comes with no installation instructions, so be sure you have a way to get it in. That's all for now.

It's OEM!,

I thought for the price it would be a complete kit. It's OEM! It's just a bare drive, no cable, no driver, manual - nothing. If you know what you're doing or are replacing an old floppy it'll do, but you can find bare drives for a much much cheaper price elsewhere. They should put that it's OEM in the description.

My friends and I have used ~10 of these Teac drives when building systems for people and they are rock solid. It's worth the extra little money to buy a Teac instead of a lousy drive that comes OEM because this drive is cheap and solid! You need a dependable floppy drive... this is it.

Quality product, but a little expensive for a floppy drive.,

You can probably get a floppy drive elsewhere or of a different make, but at least with the TEAC here, you're not going to run into any problems. In my experience, I've never had a problem with my TEAC drives (and I can actually say that some of my other drives HAVE died on me).Get it for peace of mind.

Fantastic floppy drive,

I used the Teac FD235HFA240/S to replace a failed drive in an old Compaq Deskpro EP. I had to permanently remove the floppy drive's front bezel so it would fit into the Compaq. Other than that, the installation was a snap, Windows installed a driver after rebooting the machine. I tested this drive exhaustively, reading, writing and erasing on over 100 disks with no problems. I did combinations where i would write to the disk, then read a little, then erase what had been written, then go back and write again. Then I would erase the disk and write it again without reading, or perhaps write the disk twice with no reads, and maybe erase one file. JPEGs, PDFs, MS Word documents, WAVs, you name it, this baby can handle them all.

does the trick,
This review is from: TEAC FD235HFA240/S 3.5" 1.44MB Gray Floppy Drive Internal (Personal Computers)
My original floppy was giving me grief, and so I bought this one, based on its low cost and decent customer reviews. Installation was me-proof (pretty high standard of simpleness), and the drive works great.

IT'S NOT GRAY . . .,

This review is from: TEAC FD235HFA240/S 3.5" 1.44MB Gray Floppy Drive Internal (Personal Computers)
. . . it's beige. Like an ancient IBM PC-AT drive. If you're thinking you can order this and get something that will match a aluminum Lian Li case, a Shuttle SV24/25, etc., forget about it.In all other respects, it's just your basic floppy disk drive. As someone else noted, it's an OEM drive, not a retail-packaged product. I don't know why it's priced as high as it is.

Great Floppy Drive,
This review is from: TEAC FD235HFA240/S 3.5" 1.44MB Gray Floppy Drive Internal (Personal Computers)
What can you expect from a floppy drive? It arrived quickly and plugged in without any problems. It works. It may be a couple of dollars more than some other brands but TEAC is known for great drives. I don't expect to have to replace this floppy anytime soon.
