Product Description

DampRid eliminates excess humidity.  It helps prevent musty odors caused by excess moisture in the air to create a more comfortable home.   By reducing excess humidity, DampRid helps create fresher indoor air.

From the Manufacturer

DampRid was founded as in 1948 Vapor Products, Inc., in Orlando, Florida.  In the beginning, DampRid’s products were sold exclusively in Florida department stores. 1960 marked a major turning point when DampRid began selling its products in other retail outlets, including grocery and drugstores. This move spurred the rapidly accelerated growth pattern that continues today. As of 2005, DampRid products are available in over 25,000 retail outlets in 24 countries worldwide. Through the years, DampRid has introduced a number of products designed to absorb moisture, eliminate odors and reduce allergens, continually expanding and improving its line. The company’s original product, Mildewcide, was replaced in 1972 by the Refillable Room Freshener. MagicDisk debuted in 1956. Today's line of DampRid products control moisture in all areas of your home, vacation home, cars, boats and RV's.

Musty, humid closets are a harbinger of bad news. With traditional DampRid in the small, open containers, there's always the risk of spilling it (which is rather toxic). With a dehumidifier, there's the problem of trying to find a plug nearby and the mess of emptying it. With mothballs, they're messy and often overly-scented. With this DampRid, you get the best of everything: hanging on the closet rod, it's out of the way and off the floor; being completely contained, there's no risk of a mess; the cedar fragrance is slight and far from overpowering; finally, when it's done, you just throw it in the trash bag and replace.

I recently moved into a basement apartment and noticed that my closet and bedroom had a musty smell. I placed one of these cedar damprids in my closet and within 2 days it collected water in the bag and removed the musty smell from my clothes.
I also placed 2 of the damp rid containers in other parts of my apt and it seems to be helping.

The easiest way to get rid of a musty smell in an unfinished basement is to hang up one of these. I have an unfinished basement with a sump pump and some clutter, and it used to always have a damp musty smell.

For the past few years I've had one of these hanging up --this kind and the unscented regular, changed every few months-- and for a while now the basement doesn't smell like anything.

The bag contains the moisture absorbed so there's no mess, easy to dispose of, easy to replace. It's improved the feel and smell of my basement, no musty smell, no damp feel anymore, and all we did was hang up this DampRid moisture absorber and replace it when needed. Can't get any easier than that.

I've been using the Hanging Moisture Absorber for a long time and will continue to use it. It does as it says...it sucks up all the dampness. Great Product!

Three months ago I moved into an older home that smelled musty. I placed two of these in each clothes closet in an effort to prevent my clothes from smelling, and it worked. Two plus months later, they are filled with water, and I'm re-ordering more. I also purchased the room absorbers and placed them throughout the house, and they are filling with water also. The house no longer smells moldy, so I'm happy! Highly recommend these products to remove water in the air.

I bought this hanging DampRid and put it in my main clothes closet. I cannot believe how fast it is filling with water! I bought three altogether. I know they are accurately doing their job because one of the ones I have hanging is not collecting water at all. It's adjacent to a room that has a dehumidifier. Now I know my dehumidifier is working too!

I live in the humid south. The first time I tried the hanging moisture absorber by DampRid, I was amazed at how damp my closets were even though my air conditioner is on from March through September/October. I hang it at the end of the closet where it isn't touching clothes and like the fresh smell. And, since these are so difficult to find in stores, I was pleased that Amazon sells them and that they are reasonably priced.

Wow. These have been in my closet for maybe 3 weeks, and the bags underneath are filled with 1.5 or 2 cups of water apiece. If that says anything about the amount of water that is no longer collecting in my clothes, I am very optimistic about them improving the long-term storage quality of my laundry (i.e. the "stale" smell when something has been in the closet for too long).
