I know there have been a lot of mixed reviews for this game, but I have to say that FIFA 2000 is a great game! The addition of MLS teams makes it much more enjoyable for the American soccer fan. The uniforms look great and the flow of the game is pretty fluid once you get the hang of it. The classic teams are fun to play with if you are a soccer purist. Being able to play as Pele (No.10) and Beckenbauer and Ricky Davis with the New York Cosmos from their hey-dey in the 70's is great! The updated team rosters for the European clubs is another bonus. I was a little upset to see that Portugal's club teams and national team were left off of this year's game, and I'm still wondering why Brian McBride isn't on the Columbus Crew roster. As for the new commentators (Schoen and Foudy), they aren't bad. Motson and Lineker were more fun to listen to on FIFA 99, but the overall game is better in 2000! Buy this game! You will not be disappointed.

The best soccer game out there, December 4, 1999

FIFA 2000 is the best soccer game there is. The graphics have improved since FIFA' 99, the gameplay is better, there are more teams, the crowd does more cheering and chanting, the goalies are smarter, and the schedules mix the cup schedules into the league schedule at the same time, and there are multiple seasons. However, replacing Jon Motson and the British announcers with Phil Schoen and Julie Foudy was not a good idea. They are OK, but the commentary in '99 is better. But, FIFA 2000 is so enjoyable that the annoucers don't take away from the game. If you have to hear the British annoucers, then stick with FIFA '99. Otherwise, go buy FIFA 2000, because it is the best soccer game out there.

Improved Gameplay, But What Happened to the Announcers, September 6, 2000
This review is from: FIFA Major League Soccer 2000 (Video Game)
I loved Fifa 98! Fifa 99 was a disappointment! And Fifa 2000 falls somewhere in between. The graphics and gameplay had a noticeable improvement. The soundtrack to the game was amazing, just as in prior releases. Especially, the opening sequence (Robbie Williams - It's Only Us). However, I was disappointed with a number of things. First, not all the countries and country leagues were represented. For example, Portugal which almost won the European Cup is not even one of the available teams. In the previous two versions, it was possible not only to pick Portugal, but also to play with one of the teams in the Portuguese league. Second, what happened to the announcer? This is not a rip on Judie Fallon, but I liked the commentary combination in the previous games much better. I think that Judie's commentary would have been much more appreciated in a separate game targeted directly towards women's soccer. Despite the dislikes, I would definitely recommend purchasing this game. The gameplay itself and soundtrack make it the best soccer game around, especially for its listed price.

FIFA 2000 - great game for new players, December 29, 1999

As a new PlayStation owner, FIFA 2000 was the first game I played with my new console. As a soccer player/fan, I can say that I am VERY pleased with the product. Having no prior experience with earlier versions within the FIFA series, I cannot credibly compare it to its predecessors. However, as a video game fan, I can say that this game had everything I hoped for. While Julie Foudy IS a great soccer player, with a lot of good insights into the game (see her commentary during the 1998 World Cup), it just seems out of place in this game. Her voice is just so...SWEET that you forget that she's making comments about brutal tackles. Otherwise, the atmosphere and feel of the game is truly SOCCER in it's greatest form. Playing with the English Premier League teams and some of the classic teams from recent years brought back a lot of memories. Furthermore, I was glad to see that the skill rankings were very fair, and that the makers of the game did not exaggerate the strength of the MLS teams relative to the rest of the worlds squads. Great fun for a new PlayStation user.

FIFA 2000 a big let down, November 16, 1999

I must have played hundreds of hours on FIFA 99, both with friends and against the computer and I rarely would get bored. In fact I usually had to be torn from the TV it was so much fun. Unfortunately 2000 has left out the aspects that made the game both aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly. Examples include the pre-game set up after you have chosen the teams to play, you could choose from a variety of stadiums, weather conditions, ability levels, etc. Now this must be done in the options menu and is a pain. But BY FAR, the worst call of the decade goes to EA Sports for removing our beloved European announcers and putting in some american guy and Julie Foudy--I don't care that she's a girl, but she's NOT EVEN A COMMENTATOR IN REAL LIFE! She's not funny, interesting or insightful, she's just boring and I might as well have my mom read from the phone book while I play. That being said, if you like soccer and don't care about the other stuff, it is a good soccer game. They have made a couple of the special moves easier but for serious players from 99 that takes away from the game. I also believe that the "World Class" level against the computer is still ridiculous, something that should have been corrected from the last version. Save your money and buy FIFA 99 used.

The is almost definatly the best game I have ever played.I thought the graphics were brilliant and very reallistic. If you enjoy soccer this is the game for you, it is a huge improvement of the 98 and 99 FIFA games. It has about every team you can think of plus some more, the teams include all the international teams (even New Zealand! ) plus all the club teams from all the countries with decent club teams eg. England, Italy, Brazil, France and many more. It also had a lot of teams I have never heard of before! Other than the present day teams it has about 15 classic teams, these are teams at there absolute best like Brazil from 1970 and Argentina from 1978. If you are a soccer fan I would defiatly reccomend this game for you, if you are not a soccer fan but enjoy Playstation I would definatly reccomend this game for you, even if you are not a soccer fan and are not a playstation fan either I would still reccomend this game for you. This is a great game and I give it a 20 out of 10!

I have enjoyed FIFA2K for the past 8 months. It's fun gameplay, and has a lot of opportunities to modify the teams, leagues, and tournaments, as well as camera angles and on-screen information. The gameplay is pretty good, but don't allow the computer to have a corner kick or a free kick near the box. My recommendation if you purchase this is turn off the commentator and music sound, and put Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke up front in a 3-5-2 formation. I wish that the national teams were as modifiable as the club teams. I think that the English side has a bunch of players that aren't up to snuff.

i was suprised and excited when my roommate brought home this game. We have been playing FIFA 98 and 99 steadily for about 2 years now. 99 was much better than 98. 2000 is not better than 99, however. When I saw the graphics at the beginning, I was worried (just the menu graphics. Game graphics are ok). The graphics look like old Sega graphics from 8 years ago. There is a good choice of teams. The main thing that I did not like about the game is that it is slower. The tricks and jukes do not seem to be as useful to do as in '99. Passing is much more difficult. The player indicator lights up green, yellow, or red to let you know if that pass is a good idea or not. But, when ever you pass to someone, if there is an opponent anywhere near them, the ball will be stolen. The BEST thing about the new version is the auto-goalie. It actually shows some signs of intelligence when blocking shots, and...get this....it will chase down a shot! Yes! Unfortunately, that is the only real bright point to this new game. If you have FIFA 99, save your money. I will be playing 99 much more that I will play 2000. EA, you should combine these two versions for FIFA 2001.

Don't Believe The Hype, This One Is A Major Disappointment, December 15, 1999

If you are a real fan of soccer (not just the MLS) and like hard fought games with realistic scores and a European flavor then last years FIFA 99 is the game for you. If you like button mashing arcade style american soccer with unrealistic high scores and hat-tricks a la hockey then FIFA 2K is your game. Having the MLS teams (uniforms in detail) is a nice addition but you can't play season mode with them unless you do it in custom league mode. Other improvements include the graphics: players uniforms and movements are rendered much better and the passing indicators are very helpful. You can now play continuous seasons (up to 4 or 5) which is great. Teams (other than yours) get relegated and promoted. The major cups (Champions League and UEFA) are still there and are incorporated into season play along with a domestic cup tournament... a nice touch of realism. The big letdowns are the poor pop soundtrack (Robbie Williams? ), the poor American commentators (Foudy? ), and the super fast unrealistic gameplay of the AI (sure 99 was fast but this is rediculous). To overcome this you have to turn down the attacking in the IGMs to produce a more conservative low scoring affair. But even then the AI still scores whenever it wants to and scores are rarely lower than 2-2 or 2-1. They took out the real stadium choices from 99 but the stadiums are rendered ok. More leagues were added which is good but some of the league & team selections are very questionable. No sign of Portugal but there is Israel? The classic teams are ok, maybe just this once. Personally I'd rather have more national teams. The only reason I have kept this version is because of the improved graphics, season play and the always present ability to customize everything from team uniforms, players, IGMs and even the music &commentary volumes. If it wasn't for that this game would have been promptly returned (it still may be). Instead of building on the improvements made in the 99 version, several steps backward were taken for every good thing added in 2000. This is probably the worst and most disappointing FIFA effort. It appears some things were done purely for marketing reasons and the game was rushed out this year so the poor quality shows to those who have played previous versions. Rent this one first and be cautious next year.

Hello, as a fanatic of soccer all my life and all the Fifa games, i enjoyed Fifa 2000 quite a bit. The graphics greatly improved, the classic teams are great, and the game seems more real. Although there are the advantages, there are also some disadvantages. First, I found that there are a less variety of moves which I can do. Second and last, the commentators are absolutely horrible! I really enjoyed the commentating of the previous game callers, but now, I just tone down the commentators and play in silence. I would give this game 5 0ut of 5, but the commentators ruined it for me.
