Not Even A Candlestick,
By Noneof Your buisness "Mystery" (Cov, California) - See all my reviews
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: FIFA Soccer 07 (Video Game)
bottom line:
gameplay: unrealistic, dry, bourish, dead, slow, uninspiring, makes the sport look boring graphics: great, the players faces are creepy but that's my problem, I love the way the jerseys fit on the players sound: audience; good, maybe too excited and over-reactive but at least they are there. music; some pleseant, rest eye-gouging accesibility: you can pick any team you ever dreamed of. However, the main menu is tough to figure out, can't pick situation to play in (ex. rain, snow, what stadium, what referee, size of home crowd etc. etc.) I used to enjoy the FIFA series immensely. I USED to. Face it FIFA fans, this game is a total football letdown. Don't get me wrong; the grapics are amazing (the players look a little stoned, however), and the sound is split: I love hearing the exuberant crowd reacting to a foul or a goal, however I ahbor the music (some of it is catchy, the rest is flat out annoying); I also like how the jerseys move around the players and how the get dirty...it is very realistically refreshing. Another thing I like about this game is the amount of officially licenced teams; I like having the oppurtunity to dip into south American rivalry matches, or say pitting a team like Cruz Azul or Chivas against European powerhouses like Real Madrid or Chelsea. But one thing I do not like is the menu, or even the set-up. Subbing ones players burns minutes from ones time and pressing the back button loses all of your settings. The main menu is not very complicated, but finding specific things may be difficult and may take awhile. Another bone I have to pick is not the biggest one; the options pre-match are very limited- you do not pick them at all. The gameplay is my biggest hate in this game. Whether its because the ball bounces awkwardly when passing, how one does not feel like they have total control over ones team, or if something just feels wrong about the game, it does not compare at all. For me, in a sports game, gameplay is everything. If its fun, and the graphics are decent it would have at least gotten a four. This was not fun. This game was incredibly annoying to watch and unbearable to play. The only fans are those who have not played that of the Winning Eleven series. And FIFA holds not even a candlestick to Winning Eleven.

THE BEST Soccer game EVER!,

Take this from a former collegiate player... this is top notch play
for the buck. It's simple enough to just pick up and play ... yet complicated at times if you wanna show off with some tricks. I've even converted my other half who is not a soccer fan to play with me. The music ROCKS too. All around excellent game.

Great strides for EA,

I bought Fifa 07 only because the new winning eleven game is not available on regular xbox. I was expecting very little from the EA franchise, ever since 2002 I feel that EA has really produced lackluster football games. Even last year I purchased Fifa 06 and promptly sold it back several weeks later, I was convinced EA was dead to me... but they have redeemed themselves! The quality of tactical control and depth in manager mode (dealing with the board, fans, player morale, cultivating talent, and transfers) is far superior and transparent than Winning Eleven. But most importantly, EA has made great strides in the game-play. The interaction between players both on your team and the opposition is greatly improved. Now, you can make cuts and alter dribbling speed and actually beat defenders (something missing in many years of fifa past). The tackling is greatly improved and much less frustrating (in past years the computers defenders were practically brick walls and totally humped you). For a casual football gamer as well as a serious one, this game has something for all. However, I must say, if you have a platform that supports the winning eleven franchise purchase the latest one (older versions 7 & 8 are available on regular xbox) because Winning Elevens simply are a far superior game... but with the strides made by EA you must wonder for how long!?!?
