I bought Fifa 07 only because the new winning eleven game is not available on regular xbox. I was expecting very little from the EA franchise, ever since 2002 I feel that EA has really produced lackluster football games. Even last year I purchased Fifa 06 and promptly sold it back several weeks later, I was convinced EA was dead to me... but they have redeemed themselves! The quality of tactical control and depth in manager mode (dealing with the board, fans, player morale, cultivating talent, and transfers) is far superior and transparent than Winning Eleven. But most importantly, EA has made great strides in the game-play. The interaction between players both on your team and the opposition is greatly improved. Now, you can make cuts and alter dribbling speed and actually beat defenders (something missing in many years of fifa past). The tackling is greatly improved and much less frustrating (in past years the computers defenders were practically brick walls and totally humped you). For a casual football gamer as well as a serious one, this game has something for all. However, I must say, if you have a platform that supports the winning eleven franchise purchase the latest one (older versions 7 & 8 are available on regular xbox) because Winning Elevens simply are a far superior game... but with the strides made by EA you must wonder for how long!?!?

Take this from a former collegiate player... this is top notch play

for the buck. It's simple enough to just pick up and play ... yet

complicated at times if you wanna show off with some tricks.

I've even converted my other half who is not a soccer fan to play with me.

The music ROCKS too. All around excellent game.

The game's graphics are unbelievable. You can actually tell who is who by looking at the players' faces.(if you know who they are of course). You can create your own team, stadium, flag, colors for the team, and players. The game allows you to scout players that are just in high school, but may be the future of your organization. Me and my friends usually just have pickup games between to mls teams, which happen to be rated very poorly. us soccer is a joke. Fun for all ages.

I'm not looking for a whole bunch of intricacies and perfections in my video games; I just needed to have a soccer game in the collection! That said, the graphics are good, the game play is realistic, and it's good game. The introductory menu is a tad confusing to navigate and start into a season, etc., but most of what I will be doing is just friendlies against my buddies, so it should be perfect. Good game, good price.

First of all let me explain... I am addicted. I'm jonesing right now for some good FIFA 07. I bought this game about a month ago & have been trying to play it as much as possible. I previously had FIFA 2005 & while I found it a good game... it wasn't great. I felt that 2005 didn't have an appropriate amount of strategy involved in the game play. Not so for 2007. In 2007 you can pick the mentality of your whole team, not just sections of your team like 2005. In 2007 there are more amounts of defensive options, you can play a 'flat back' defnese while the rest of your team has a 'neutral' mentality. What's more is that when you pick certain strategies the team seems to react appropriately. This didn't seem to work so well in 2005. The depth in general for 07 is awesome. For instance, the more you play a key player the more his attributes increase. Someone below mentioned that the AI has been improved, I wholeheartedly agree. I'm playing semi-pro, MLS, Kansas City Wizards, a 2.5 star team. They loose to better teams win against poorer teams & vice versa. This game is a huge leap forward for the EA soccer franchise. I rated this game a 4 on 'fun' only because of the frustration factor. Make no mistakes this game is very challenging.

This is a great game, ever since it came in a few days ago, I've hardly been able to put down my controller.
I will say, I'm fairly new to association football, so people who have been following the sport their whole lives might have more complaints with it than I would. With that being said, my only major gripe is that you get penalized far more often than the CPU does. It seems like 9 out of 10 times you go for a sliding tackle, the ref calls you for a foul, but the CPU only gets called about 1 out of every 10 times they go for a sliding tackle against you.
Other than that, I have no major complaints.

The game is slower compared to its predecessor, it surprised me when I tried to put it in fast mode but actually it starts this way. I feel it is easier to make a goal (although I have only tried Semi Pro) than the previous version.

Manager mode is more complicated, financial decisions are more difficult, the amount of money you manage is very different from FIFA06.

In general I like it so far.

I have to rate this as "meh". I am spoiled, I think, by Winning Eleven, which has far superior gameplay IMHO. I bought FIFA 07 because they have the licenses to have the teams and players I like (DC United and Hapoel Tel Aviv). And while it is fun to play in a 'real' league, the gameplay is just disappointing. Not terrible, just disappointing.
