One of my favorite games for the DS,

Some games you'll get for the DS are simply stripped down versions of what you can buy for other systems, and they feel like it. The limited functionality translates into less time you're going to want to spend playing them. FIFA '09 isn't one of those games. It's true that it has its flaws, such as players sometimes having no resemblance to the real people and there being only a select number of stadiums. This however has little bearing on the game play which is as realistic and intense as the real thing. In contrast to other ("stripped down") DS sports games, you have the "Be a Pro" mode to play around with; while Amazon descriptions of other games such as MLB Power Pros 2008 refer to playing modes that won't actually be included in your DS version. These days, the bottom line is value, and this game offers a lot of it. If you manage to find this game on sale, for the cost of going to the movies, you're going to have hours upon hours of fun gametime. The only DS sports game I've found to be more addictive than this one is Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, but you can probably chalk this up to being a matter of taste.

Graphics are a little lame, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. I appreciate the depth of the features included -- season play for multiple leagues, substitutions, formation changing and editing, league tables, etc. Cons: Find it difficult to see how tired my players are. Wish there was more in depth statistics tracking (doesn't keep track of goalie saves). Doesn't keep track of match events after the end of the game.
I highly recommend!

A "must have" for an out-of-town soccer tournament trip,

According to my 11 year old: This game is loads of fun and up-to-date with the players and their action. He would rate it excellent if it had trick moves and shots. Otherwise, it is a "must have" for an out of town soccer tournament trip and "game shares" so a friend or sibling can play too.

So far this game is really fun and I am winning! This is my first futbol(soccer) video game so I'm not always sure what I am doing and sometimes I hit the wrong button. For the casual gamer there are a lot of controls to be learned but I am getting the hang of it. I like that there are a variety of teams and leagues to choose from and in manager mode you get to work on your "career". The commentation is even cool and surprisingly is not getting on my nerves. The graphics are not that great, but maybe they were improved for 2010. I don't own that version yet. This game has wifi connection so you can play against friends, check the leaderboards and update your squad list.
