Once you get good at the Wii version of FIFA, you need to have online games available because it becomes way too easy to beat the computer. Unfortunately, there's no on line capability with FIFA 2012 unlike 2011. I generally can beat Spain with lowly Lorient, which of course is a huge mismatch in real life. The new quick tactics seem cool, but they are unnecessary because the game is already easy enough to beat without those tactics. (Maybe if I used them I could then beat Real Madrid with an MLS team). 2011 is also a MUCH better version because the pictures of the players are closer to the actual (except for several marquee teams) and several ratings that distinguish players have been dropped in the 2012 version -- awareness, heading, and stamina. Every player now has a "GK" rating (is that goal tending for forwards?!). The ratings eliminated on the 2012 version were very important in making the game realistic. They also deleted "advance tricks" from the remote, so you only have the "basic tricks" option. So you had 8 different dribbling tricks in 2011 but now only 4 with 2012. Good thing you don't need them because you are probably already ahead 8 to 0 and it's impossible to miss a shot.

I was very shocked by the 2012 version, so I sold it on Craigslist and went back to playing 2011 on line. Shockingly bad.

As a side note, they recently updated the online rosters for the Wii FIFA 2011 through the January 2011 transfer window. Thus, Torres is playing for Chelsea and Suarez is playing for Liverpool, etc. Maybe they will update again through the August transfer window? FIFA 2011 on the Wii is a terrific game. Just buy it and you're much better off.

I've bought a version of FIFA since 2002 in various formats. I've bought for the Wii since 2009. It's not much different than FIFA 11, except for the GLARING removal of the online game play. Had I known this, I would never have bought it. Seriously disappointed.

It is basically the same game year over year, from 2011 Wii version. They updated the main game selection screen just to make it different from 2011.
For example, you score a goal in a game mode, you get a building upgrade to the main screen. Useless.
At the end, game engine, game play is 99% same, other than the 4 selectable tactics (again useless for a mindless AI).
Received the game, defeated the AI (hard mode) in the first 2-minute game 8 to 1 (Barca vs Real).
Cannot even play online anymore as in 2011. No such option.
Returned back to my 2011 Wii version for online play for better human opponents. Avoiding EA Sports for some time, very upset this year and feeling being robbed just being a loyal customer.
Spend your money elsewhere...

As I see other reviews, I have a different perspective. I have never had a soccer game on the Wii before so this game is a first for me. I am enjoying the playing experience on the Wii. I like the fact that I have many different options to choose from while playing. I am disappointed with the fact that there is no online play, but I can get over that quite easily knowing that I can play many different styles.

Starting with Streets to Stadium:
Creating a player and going from a nobody to a somebody is entertaining and fun. I'm loving this aspect of the game, while at the same time, frustrated with how terrible some of the team play is. Luckily I can call for the ball and make things happen.

Manager Mode:
You can always start at the top, or work your way up. I like how it gives you both options. This is fun so far, and I only play 2 minute halves. I am unsure how players get so good that they win 8-1 in 2 minute halves, but so be it.

Build a City:
This is a kick, but at the same time, unless you get good players, it can be frustrating at first. Build up your city while you play other forms of the game and it will be better.

I know that I am not a pro at writing reviews, and all the reviews I read haven't been positive, but if you have never played a Wii game before and want the most up to date soccer game, go with this. Otherwise try different formats of the game and make your own decision.

I had been awaiting the release of FIFA 12 for a very long time and was very happy when I found it on Amazon. I had read that FIFA 12 had already earned so many awards, though I doubt that any were for the Wii. I expected much more from EA. The manager mode is awful and extremely unrealistic. The match engine has much to improve on.

If I could, I'd demand a much higher refund than what Amazon's trade in is.

DON'T BUY THIS GAME! LOOK AT IT'S RATING AND NEVER GIVE IT A SECOND LOOK. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

I am almost considering becoming traitor and trying out PES... it looks much better for now...

What is up with FIFA on wii??? This game stinks and so does FIFA 2011. I have never heard of a game where you cannot customize your formation or choose your set piece kicker or captain. No online mode for 2012? They make it easier when it already was easy! These games are clearly intended for younger players. The WII FIFA franchise is downright terrible for older players who would like to see online gameplay and customization. I will be sticking to Pro Evolution for my footballing game needs.
