Features

  • A Great Player Needs a Great First Touch: A quality first touch--intrinsic to the sport itself--is the essential trait that separates good players from great players on the soccer pitch. Improved button and control sensitivity provides an authentic first touch for users of FIFA Soccer 2005. Using the fluid player kinetic system, soccer's most important skill has been revamped to give the most responsive and rewarding control system to date.
  • Added Gameplay Depth: Off the Ball Control is fine tuned and better than ever in FIFA Soccer 2005. Take command of players not in possession of the ball by calling in tackles, jostling for space, and sending your teammates on runs as you control the pitch. Movement on throw-ins has also been added to enhance authenticity.
  • The Absolute Broadcast: With new in-game camera angles, smooth cut sequences for replays, and improved contrast and lighting for players and stadiums, FIFA Soccer 2005 has the look and feel of an authentic television broadcast experience. Add in authentic crowd chants from officially licensed stadiums--both large and small--and FIFA Soccer 2005 offers the most immersive experience available.
  • Deeper Career Mode: FIFA Soccer 2005's deep Career Mode tests your skills both on the pitch and in the front office. Build your franchise and guide your club to the Championship.
  • The Worlds Ultimate Roster: More than 350 official team and league licenses from around the world-including 20 leagues and 40 national teams-and more than 12,000 licensed players are available. From the fast pace of Europe's super leagues to up-and-coming teams in the lower divisions, FIFA Soccer 2005 provides the most authentic selection of the world's top teams, players, and environments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy on PC if you can, December 20, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: FIFA Soccer 2005 (CD-ROM)
I bought this game first on the playstation 2 but soon realized, (by playing the PC demo, and then surfing all the fan sites) that the the PC version is a smarter purchse. The game is great soccer gaming experience, and by far the best gameplay engine to date. (Still not perfect yet, though) The most frustrating aspects are the missing teams, incorrect player faces, incorrect uniforms, and missing stadiums. However, all these issues can be addressed if you have the pc version, through the many fan/user created websites designed to fix these discrepancies. And that is my recomendation to the soccer gamer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Arcade version, not a simulation, February 9, 2005

If you want to play football without much control depth then choose this over the European "Pro Evolution Soccer 4" (title is "Winning 11" in the US) and if you have heard the buzz surrounding that game then you should know that it is in the top three sports simulations of all time.

Winning 11 however is not an out-of-box game, taking days to learn, weeks to master and then improve on with other players. FIFA works straight out of box, is easy, but its limits become all too obvious in light on Winning 11, a game has been in development since the Nintendo 64 and is easily the best soccer engine out there.

The bottom line is that if you want a soccer game that works out of box, that you can play almost right away with anybody, then FIFA has it. If you want a real soccer sim that takes longer to get into but is far better, then choose Winning 11.

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, October 21, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: FIFA Soccer 2005 (CD-ROM)
This game is one of the worst soccer games i have ever seen. The animation is bad. The control is even worse. I just couldn't believe my eye. Eventhough FIFA 04 isn't a great game at all, it is still way better than this. Get winning 11, if you want a great soccer game. EA is making this franchise worse, and worse every single year. I still wonder how worse next years version will be. They are really killing this franchise.
