Interesting Plot, December 28, 2010
This review is from: FINAL SOLUTION (Kindle Edition)
Final Solution, a first novel by Jason Hiaeshutter, involves an interesting fast-paced plot that uses the horrific WWII experiments of Germany's Dr. Josef Mengele as inspiration. A secret society, pairing recent medical research with Mengele's experiments on cloning, is building an army of super warriors to take over the world. Unknown to Devin Vaughn, his wife Jodell is involved with this group; her untimely death unleashes evil forces that threaten Devin and his son Colton. With the help of Marcus, a disillusioned former member of this group, Devon races to save his son from assuming the role that has been ordained for him.
The twists and turns of the plot are interesting---the author keeps the reader engaged and guessing right up to the end. I feel the development of the characters is somewhat lacking. I really wish the author had provided more information about each of them---their backgrounds, reasons for their actions, their feelings, etc. What was the relationship between Devin and his wife? What is the background of Marcus---why did he quit the group? I had so many questions about these characters and why they did the things they did.
I do recommend this book to others who enjoy a creative, fast-paced plot. It will be interesting to see how the author's writing develops in future books.
I read the Kindle version of this book. There were a handful of copyediting errors that interrupted the flow of reading.

Exciting cover to cover, January 2, 2011
This review is from: FINAL SOLUTION (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed this book. Never once did the story get dull for me and I found myself always anxious for what was coming next. When the book begins, you get the feeling that you have just jumped into the middle of a much bigger story. Because of this, the plot moves quickly and thrillingly. I gave the book four stars only because there were a few areas where voice and description could have been better. A professional editor could have certainly helped in that regard. But when push comes to shove, it's a phenomenal read.
