Product Description

The Freestyle Snorkel is the first snorkel designed specifically for freestyle swimmers. The advanced shape allows the swimmer to achieve a lower head position during freestyle and therefore further optimize body position.Training Benefits:The Swimmer's Snorkel allows the swimmer to keep their face down in the water and concentrate on their stroke. This a great way to improve on stroke mechanics. With significant training, proper stroke technique, body position, balance, and streamline positioning can be committed to memory.Increases lung capacity and aerobic conditioning. The distance the air has to travel to get to and from the lungs is increased by the length of the snorkel. This forces the swimmer to develop a stronger inhale and exhale while swimming. As the lungs develop, fewer breaths will be needed for each lap, which will reduce times.Used and endorsed by many top swimming coaches and programs.

Top is too close to the water.

As a result, I can spend more time swimming, focusing on better stroke dynamics, getting a better workout and doing more laps.

The manufacturers states you may need to use nose plugs, but I don't and that's not been a problem at all.

I have the finis center mount snorkel and I got the hang of that one but this one gives me some trouble. I bought the freestyle snorkel because I've seen some great swimmers all using it so I had to give it a try but I prefer the center mount snorkel. Supposedly the freestyle snorkel is bent to make it harder for water to come in at the top but a lot of water was getting in. (Of course I'm not sure if water came in the top or if my seal around the mouthpiece was not tight enough or how water was getting in.) I'm not giving up on it altogether but i found the center mount snorkel easier to use.

I love this snorkel. I personally are not a huge fan of exercising, but I do enjoy swimming, and decided to use swimming as my exercise program. At first, I got very tired after very few laps, but after starting to use the freestyle snorkel, I can swim much more without getting tired or having to stop every few laps. The difference was incredible for me. I went from swimming about 700m to about 2000 in a matter of days. I enjoy the fact that I can breathe when I want/need, independantly of at what stage of the stroke I am. Since I swim for the exercise, and not competitively, this is a great product. I give only 4 stars, because after 2 months of use, one of the pieces that get in your mouth for you to bite (it has 2, not sure how to call them) came off, probably due to me biting to hard on it, could still be used quite comfortably with only one of these, but still went ahead and bought another.

This product has made swimming an enjoyable exercise. I love it and would recommend it to anybody.

We are using this snorkel in swim lessons to work on body balance. It is a great tool because if you move your head out of place, you get water in the snorkel. It is easy to use and comfortable.

I've been a fitness swimmer for most of my life and after taking a 15 year hiatus, at 55 I just don't have the lung power I once did. I found myself gasping for air, getting tired sooner and just not enjoying my workout as much.

I noticed some swimmers using a traditional side-mount snorkel and thought that might be a good solution, but couldn't stop thinking how the torque generated by the water pushing against the mouth piece would be uncomfortable, dangerous and painful.

I typically do a fair amount of research before purchasing new items and was surprised to learn that a front-mount snorkel had been designed for the fitness swimmer. Thank you, FINIS. You got this one right!

I just got it and was more than thrilled. It took no time at all to get used to it, although I still occasionally feel the urge to turn my head to take a breath. After realizing I don't have to anymore, I can breathe normally, deeply with no more gasping.

As a result, I can spend more time swimming, focusing on better stroke dynamics, getting a better workout and doing more laps. I paired the snorkel with Speedo Aqua Fit Training Swim Gloves and now go fairly fast with absolutely no negative torque.

My workouts are fun again.

P.S. With a proper head position, I experienced no water leaking in.

this snorkel is wonderful.I can now extend the length of my workout. Without this device I could swim laps for about 30 min straight, but slowly so that I can keep up with my breath. Now I am able to work out for an hour straight and with speed.I love it.....I guess the only drawback is that after awhile it does tend to hurt a little on the forehead, but i just deal with it....

Several years ago I had a bulging disk in my neck that impinged a nerve, which cause arm pain. I had to stop swimming and working out altogether for a year or more (before this I was doing triathlons). When I recovered, I wanted to continue swimming to stay in shape, but turning my head to breathe tended to aggravate my neck. So I got this snorkel. After my first session with it I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to get used to it. I was anxious because I felt like I couldn't get enough air and once I choked on water that was trapped in it when I inhaled. But what are you going to do? Most of us who swim recreationlly do it because it makes us feel good both physically and mentally, and so I didn't want to give up. The next session I knew what to expect and so I was mentally prepared for it. I started by just putting my head under water and slowly inhaling and exhaling, telling myself there was nothing to panic over and there was no rush. Then I did a few slow laps of breast stroke and then some slow laps of free style.

Long story short: It took four sessions to really get comfortable with it, but now I love it for a bunch of reasons. First, I can swim with no neck pain. Two, I can swim longer than before and get a great workout. Three, swimming is now more relaxing. It's kind of like doing yoga underwater when you don't have to think about breathing so it's a great stress reliever. Four, you can work on kicking without even using a board. I just scull with my arms in front of me, like Superman. And five, chlorine in my pool really bothered my sinuses before, I guess because I tended to inhale through my nose. With the snorkel, I have noticed that I don't have nearly the sinus problems.
