5.0 out of 5 stars Lord Lynche's Dilemma, April 14, 2010
By
This review is from: The fire of love (Paperback)
We find this story takes place in Victorian England, 1901.(as an aside, Carina is a golden blond, not dark like on the cover, most of Ms Cartland's alpha females are blond.)

Lady Carina Warner(Claverly) found herself alone and penniless, she had to get a job, before her home was turned over to her father's creditors.

Her father had gambled away all the propriety they owned and then killed himself.

Carina's mother didn't survive long after her husband died.

So Carina changed her last name to Warner, and went to get a job. She landed a job caring for a young boy Dipa, who was Javanese.

The child's mother told her Dipa was Lord Lynches son and had to be taken to his father, Chi-Yun was too sick to care for the child or to take him to his father, in fact she was dying.

Carina was entrusted with the child, along with his birth certificate and the marriage lines of Chi-Yun and Giles Lynche.

It didn't take Carina long to find that the strange circumstances of the job she had taken on were mild compared to the household she took little Dipa.

There was Sir Percy Rockley the vile, evil gambler who was taking all that Lord Lynche had. Carina then found Sir Percy wanted her. He was willing to set her up in a house of her own as his mistress. Carina turned down the offer, but Sir Percy thought that she was just playing a sly game of love.

Then Carina found a hidden passage way and the still alive true Lord Lynche.

He was wanted by the police for committing murder.

This story has so many twists and turns that it was one of the books I had to read all the way to the end because I can't put it down.

A great read.

From the back of the book: 'the mysterious Lady Lynche's dying wish was that her small son be returned to Lynche Castle where he could claim his inheritance. Lovely Carina Warner, alone and penniless, agreed to accompany him despite misgivings. What she would discover at Lynche Castle would more than justify her fears.

Along with their dreadful secret, the ancient walls held a darkly handsome young man who might be a promise of love for Carina-or a lonely, awful doom!'
