I just finished Fitness Straight Up and found it engaging and informative. Christopher makes improving your health and your body seem attainable goals, no matter what your age or when you start! The book is very informative from both a macro level, as well as providing detailed instructions regarding nutrition, workouts and the mental aspects of changing habits. I liked the friendly tone, filled with personal anecdotes and useful tips, like he was just talking to a friend! I am not an athlete and don't need to look like one, but as I move into another decade, I realize I do need to raise my consciousness, change some habits and increase my activity. This book has inspired to do all that and I am buying an excercise ball and another copy of the book.

Fitness, Straight Up is a well rounded approach to being fit and healthy even as we grey! It has some great basics for the beginer, but also advanced information for the elite athlete and those wanting to progress to that level. I recommend reading the last chapter 'About the Author" first; it will give hope to those of you doubting whether you can "...be a better athlete, or at least look like one."

This is a great book. As a life long athelete (skiing, tennis...), I was getting frustrated with how difficult it was for me to maintain a lean, fit body as I aged. The book reveals how the sports specific conditioning of my youth was actually now working against me. By adjustng my workouts in accordance with the book, I am now making physical progress that I know will have life long benefit. Equally important, the book is short, concise and readable. Unlike most fitness oriented books, the breezy writing never bogs down in unneccessary detail. There are literally hundreds of useful tips, and its easy to cherry pick the tips that best work for me.

Christopher Drozd has written a simple, easy to follow guide for improving your fitness, strength, and overall athletic goals. Whether you are a beginner or an avid athlete. He has a clear program to build your fitness base, eat right, sleep better, and reinforce your goals positively- all in one book. I read it through entirely and then went back and read sections again; it is a great guide and reference. I teach spinning and yoga and have given this book as a gift to clients who are just starting out with a fitness program/want to eat better/ take their training to the next level. Highly recommended!

As a serious triathlete, I always look to enhance my knowledge for the ultimate goal of the healthiest life style possible and practical. Over the last 14 years, I have been coached by several gifted athletes, however, I always strive to enhance my own knowledge to achieve the optimum fitness goals. "Fitness, Straight-Up" by Christopher Drozd has been a gift. I have read it twice, and have already picked up several points that will help me do better for 2012 calendar year. This book can teach a beginner how to start a good health and fitness program, also assist a pro on how to take it to the next level. I highly recommend this book, and consider it a very valuable resource.

Chris Drozd tells you everything you need to know about taking your athletic ability to the next level; diet, psychology, periodization, yoga, and more. Most personal trainers take an "online" course and think they know everything. You can't teach someone how to bench press 500lbs if you have never done it. You can't teach someone how to train for a marathon if you haven't done it. Chris is certified in everything and lives each chapter everyday... that is what I look for in a coach. I read his book hoping I would learn something I missed over the years and I did. His writing style is quite brilliant... I'm Sports Conditioning Certified and I couldn't put his book down.
