"Flak and Ferrets" is the best kind of history-- written not by a researcher with an agenda but by a man who lived it and tells what it was really like. Walter Morrison gives all sorts of details about life in a German prison camp in WWII that were fascinating and sometimes unexpected for me, a person who didn't know much about what being in a war is really like. And Morrison was not just a typical prisoner-- he staged several clever and daring escapes that are exciting to read about.
