I have played the uke for the past 10 years, so I was curious when I read about The Flea. This is an instrument that will capture the joy of playing for both novice and experienced players. It is so fun that you can stand it up anywhere on its flat base--it's sitting in your favorite places ready to go whenever you are! The color, look and feel are too cool. The Aquilla strings are a plus--no restringing required to get upgraded strings on a new uke. The sound is pretty incredible for an instrument that is not all wood. The fretboard feels really good--and, because of the materials used, you do get perfect pitch all the way up and down. A real plus--True Joy Acoustics is a great company that really cares about those they serve--and I don't mean just paying customers. Don't miss put on this one if you can afford it--you won't regret your purchase!!!!

I am a music therapist in private practice, working with children and adults of all ages with a variety of disabilities. Was offered a trial of this ukulele by TrueJoy Acoustics and loved it so much, bought it right up. It sounds great, holds up well during play, and is so convenient when visiting from room to room in a nursing home or hospital. It stands on its own, so I don't ever have to worry about setting it down to tend to a patient. Young and old alike respond very positively to it's color and size. And learning to play is so easy, they can do it themselves in just minutes. Well worth the cost to get this quality instrument. Have had it for more than a year and it's still in great shape.

I love My Flea. Very High Quality, Nice Action, Nice Blue Color,Very durable. I almost got a wood ukulele , but I have grand kids so I got the flea. You don't have to worry about the kids breaking it like a solid wood uke al though the top can be cracked it would take a big hit to crack it, the rest of the body is kid proof, but at the first chance take it away anyway because you will want to play it any chance you can. buy it you will love it because it sounds so nice.

If you're a music lover and like to sing, you can have a blast with a Flea! Even if you've never played a ukulele before, you can
learn enough right away to have fun with this. (It's a good idea to get an electronic tuner too....to help you get started. They're
pretty inexpensive and will get you started off right.) there's an old saying...."It's not how good you play, it's how good you feel!"

This uke is very well made and the intonation (plays in tune) and action (the strings are positioned close enough to the fretboard to make it easy to play without "buzzing") are outstanding. It's small and easy to take with you when you travel and
it's built very sturdy.

You can find lots of instructions on playing on the internet and be making music right away! :-)

As a music therapist working in a children's hospital it is important that the instruments and products I use be durable and easily cleaned. Ukuleles are excellent for this setting because they are not as intimidating as a guitar and are small enough to fit a variety of age. However, the wood of typical ukuleles can be difficult to clean. That's where FLEA Ukes come in! With a primarily plastic body, they are easy to clean and extremely durable. One would think that this would compromise it's sound quality, but not the case! The FLEA uke sounds great and my patients love the bright color.

To top it off, service was superb. Within a week of ordering I had received the FLEA and was ready to start making music. I highly recommend this vendor and product.

I really wanted a Flea and so I finally bought one. This is my 5th ukulele and as soon as I got it I strung it with a low G string and restrung the rest with rainbow strings and named it "Rainbow Dash. I am very happy with my purchase. It sounds amazing, very vibrant and full. As for the packaging and the ordering process I am very satisfied. I got it before the stated arrival date and it arrived safe and sound. I would absolutely buy another instrument from True Joy Acoustics.

These ukes are tough and they sound really great. Truejoy Acoustics is an exellent vendor and a pleasure to work with. Because I use the ukuleles I purchased in a hospital setting, the vendor gave us a very generous discount. Buy this uke. You'll be thrilled with the product.

I am so pleased with my new blue concert Flea. The workmanship is excellent, and it is hard to believe that such a sweet tone comes from a combination of wood and plastic. I was just like so many others who gave this instrument a positive rating. I have six ukuleles in my collection ranging in price from $45 to $1350. While I would never give up my expensive uke, I would give up almost all the others others to keep the flea. The blue is very true to the picture in the product description.

It is relatively easy to play and the Aquila strings sound bright, the tone is sparkling, and the tone is pleasing to my ear. It appears very tough--thick wood and hard plastic material--and difficult to injure. I'm planning on taking this on a cruise, and I can see how this will hold up very well whether packed away in my luggage or as a small carry-on. I like that it stands up on its own.

There are several slight drawbacks for me, but not enough for me to be disappointed. Since the tuners are not geared (which I am used to), it was a little tricky to get it tuned right on the mark. However, it appears to be staying in tune amazingly well. The tuners are very tight and difficult for my arthritic fingers to turn. I believe I can loosen them with a screwdriver. Finally, it is a little difficult to see the plastic frets. Since I have played ukulele for awhile, I didn't find the black plastic frets a real problem, just a little difficult for my eyes to see. I was skeptical of the molded frets, but I am amazed at how well they work. There are only a few minor intonation problems, but not even my expensive ukulele has perfect intonation to the highest frets, so this won't be an issue. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase, and will probably buy a tenor-sized Flea or Fluke in the future.
