5.0 out of 5 stars A book of Catalog
This book doesn't tell you much on the "Hows", but rather the "Wheres and Whats".... Not much on techniques. This is like a Catalog on where you can go or what you can do on the Astral. Though, you can apply the techniques to have an exit, but then again, no one uses the same technique. I give it 5 stars since this is one of a kind - There isn't much book out there to...

I give it 5 stars since this is one of a kind - There isn't much book out there to tell you what to experience or do in the Astral. Its also fun to read to see what is available out there.
The book will act as your guide to the Astral. I find it nice to go through it when you want to project. For those who are trying to project, this book will give you a feel of the Astral Realm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Owning!, December 29, 1999
By
Unlike others above who have read this book, I was blown away & found nothing ridiculous or absurd about this book, it was true for me that my OOBE's weren't as clear & strange as those described but I did get a chance to visit some places I'd never been before & meet some very interesting people(and a few that are no longer on this planet that I was able to say good-bye to) even if it was all in my mind, it was a wonderful experience & I thank D.J for being a great guide/role model for those of us who are serious about astral projection & enhancing our experiences. If you read or even buy this book I guarantee tha you won't be dissapointed. When I was reccomended this book from a friend's boyfriend, I was a little hesitant but after reading the first few chapters, I couldn't put it down & had to own a copy for myself! If you've read other novels on OOBE's then give this one a shot, at least read it & you will see that it's one you'll want in your collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, May 11, 2003

As a newcomer to astral travel, I found the material in this book helpful. How each person astral travels can be different, but I found the author's "guide" to astral travel to be quite good. She describes numerous "general topics" about astral travel, including the astral plane, time travel, healing and magick in the astral plane, and contacting spiritual teachers and guides. She gives guided meditation examples for each of these topics. I found her section on "travelling" to Atlantis intriguing for example. She also describes the types of entities you will find while travelling. While most are "good" and "helpful," there are "dark entities," which are found on the lower astral levels. She discusses ways of avoiding them and also spends an entire chapter discussing "astral defense," which is ways not only to avoid these "bad entities," but also ways to protect yourself if you sense you are under some form of "attack" while on the astral plane.

While I greatly enjoyed this book, I'm in agreement with another reviewer who suggests reading other books on this topic. It's one that cannot be covered in one single book. However, this one is an excellent place to start.

If one is just starting to learn astral projection, DO NOT use this book as a sole source of learning. It seemed to me that this book was more about what one can do in the astral plane and the options available, rather than on projection techniques. The only method of projection that the author mentions is one of the least successful (for beginners). To sum it all up: read it for interest in the astral plane, not for learning astral projection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Interesting, June 18, 2005

As others have mentioned, her method of going out of body is not very novice-friendly. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend this book to a total beginner. I would however recommend it as an interesting overview of what you can do when you finally astral project. (I guess novices could read it while they're trying some other methods of astral projection.)

Interesting things discussed include: time travel, exploring ancient ways, the astral lover, and astral magic.

The only chapter that I found extremely boring (and which is the only chapter I haven't finished reading in the whole book) is "Healing in the Astral."

Other than that, it was an interesting read.

It's a good book to excite you about the astral, but I wouldn't use it as the only source if I was a total beginner. Some good books for beginners include: "Adventures Beyond the Body" by William Buhlman (which helped me have my first out-of-body experience) and "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce.

4.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT, April 10, 2003

Jake Bishop (On the road . . .) - See all my reviews
Although I am in disagreement with a number of the concepts presented by Ms. Conway, this is more a matter of opinion than anything else. Be advised: don't rely on this as your sole source of information on the Astral! Opinions and techniques vary greatly, and these methods are not suitable for everyone. For a "well rounded education," check out the works of: Robert Bruce, J.H. Brennan, and Scribe 27.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent how-to guide to Astral Projection!, April 13, 1998
By A Customer
This was a very informative book about astral projection. In this book, D.J. Conway creates a very simple and useful guide on how to astral project, meditate, set up a practice in the astral world, look through records of your past lives, protect yourself from black magic, and even find your astral lover. It may be a little confusing at first, but once you're in the air everything makes sense. A must-read for people who want to learn how to astral-project!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Astral Tourguide, September 7, 2001

If you are more creative and imaginative than practical, then Flying Without a Broom is definitely worth reading. It shows you the more wonderful, more magical side of the astral world. The exercises and guided tours inside have given me more than enough of a start to go wherever in the universe I want. My results have been wonderful, and yours should be, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ethical and Comprehensive. Destined to Become a Classic!, May 7, 1997
By A Customer
A holistic approach to the art and practice of Astral Projection. Subjects range from techniques for leaving the body, karmic responsibility, psychic self-defense, practical wisdom, productive activities and much more. Ms. Conway has a way of writing and teaching that doesn't come across as "preachy." Refreshing and reassuring, Ms. Conway accomplishes much in stripping away the elitism and mystery from this natural ability of all people. Destined to become a classic on the subject of Astral Projection, this book gets two thumbs up

Conway's concentration on research and writing has certainly paid off. With the knowledge of an expert and impressive writing skills Ms. Conway thrills the reader in every page. The chapters about historical time travel and astral love simply cannot be missed. A book you'll keep by your bedside to read over and over again. Must rate amongst the best ever on astral projection.
