This review is from: Shutter Hat Camera Cover (Electronics)
Like many, I tend to leave my expensive camera home when it rains. If I'm out somewhere taking pictures and a sudden storm whips up, I panic and worry that thousands of dollars in camera and optics are about to be destroyed.
The Shutter Hat is like a raincoat for your gear - good insurance against wet weather conditions. Small and easily packed (folded, it's about the size of a 4x6 photo and maybe half an inch thick), it slips into a coat pocket or camera bag and it's become one of those things that I carry along just in case, sort of like spare batteries. You can have your camera protected in just a few seconds with this product. You unfold it, wrapping camera, lens and flash (if you're using one) in waterproof plastic. There's a spot where your right hand fits inside the product, enabling you to access any of your camera controls. Overall, I'd rate the protection as good - I've used it three or four times now with nary a drop of water getting on my gear. As for size, it's all adjustable. I've fit a camera as large as a Nikon D3 with SB900 and 70-200 lens, although this is about the limit. My D300 fits with quite a bit more ease, especially when I'm not using flash. I also tend to leave the lens hoods off (sort of by definition, if it's raining, you probably don't have a lot of need for the hood). My only gripe is that it can be difficult to see and operate all the controls. Although you can see the built-in monitor on the back on the camera, it can be difficult to read, and things like changing memory cards are difficult tasks when the camera is wrapped with this item. Still, overall I'm glad I have it - it gives me confidence to take the camera places I wouldn't have before, and that can only be a good thing.
