I was genuinely surprised by the quality of this arm. I have worked with many of the more expensive arms over the years on rented camera packages, but for my own messing around I couldn't justify the price of the "pro" models. If I were to knit-pick at it the ball joints and rotating sections don't move nearly as smoothly as the expensive ones when the tension is released. However that being said it holds rock solid when the tension is on, which to me is far more important than it moving smoothly.

When I got it, it looked nice and felt sturdy. However, in the field with a Lilliput monitor of only a pound or two, it struggled to hold it. I would lock it in only to watch it buckle and fall multiple times. After thirty minutes, the ball joint that was screwed in fell into pieces, with a washer falling out and the entire unit breaking off of it. 10 pound limit? More like 10 ounces, although reading these other reviews is puzzling to me, b/c I seem to be in the minority.

Totally agree with the 2 earlier feedback. I needed an articulating arm to mount my 7" LCD monitor to my Sony VG10 and this $24 item solves my problem of where and how to mount it. I'm still looking for adapters to mount this arm on the rods itself and not the coldshoe for fear of tearing off the latter. It really locks in place when you tighten the knob which is what's important here especially when you have your equipment shoulder mounted and moving. I'm particularly impressed with its solid metal built, something I did not really expect for a measly $24.

There's nothing negative I can say about it. I'd recommend this product to anyone that just purchased a video monitor....an absolute must!

Before I bought this arm, I used a very similar one I got off eBay that cost about the same price. The movement on that arm was rigid - too much friction and metal grinding against metal in the ball joints. That one broke several times (having to put it back together took 30 minutes of meticulous work trying to force the tiny pieces back into alignment) and wasn't reliable enough for any practical use in the field.

I had my doubts about buying another articulating arm at this price, but the reviews on this one seemed pretty good, and they were right. This arm is just the opposite of the other one I had - nice smooth movement, works just the way it should. I highly recommend this one. Holds up my 7" monitor and battery with no issues whatsoever. My only advice to people is to make sure that you use a strong attachment point to your rig - I use a 1/4" attachment point that's joined across both rails so that it wouldn't rotate, with a little bit of threadlock to prevent it from loosening.

I'm using this for a 7" monitor and it works better than the price implies. I don't use the hotshoe mount, but it just unscrews and you can mount it anywhere on your rig.

I haven't had a chance to use the magic arm in actual use, but my initial thoughts when handling it is that it is very sturdy. It feels very very solid and all metal. The joints loosen and rotate with ease when the knob is loosened as expected and securely tighten when the knob is tightened. The joints don't move one bit once tightened. I'm very impressed with it and can't wait to use it. I have no doubts that it will work flawlessly. Great price and you can't beat it.

This unit works great for holding up my H6 or my lights on my tripod stand.

The one i got was black and silver and not all black like the picture.

This was my first one of these so, I would have appreciated some instructions or some explanation of how it works. The big thing to know is that you can pretty much put it in whatever shape/position you want as long as the middle knob is lose. Once you have it where you want it, just crank that arm down and it'll stay where you want it.

As for strength/stability - it's exactly as they said it would be. Love kamerar stuff and this is no exception.
