5.0 out of 5 stars The best preamp under $500... Ah heck! The best preamp under $1000!, November 14, 2005

This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
Don't let the look of this thing fool you. This is pro audio gear done right. No hype, no hoopla, no BS. It just works. Awesome sound. If you are just getting started in recording or you are a seasoned vet looking for something new and special, this is the preamp to get. Match it up with the Really Nice Compressor and/or Really Nice Limiter and you'll have a heavyweight signal chain that will handle anything and make it sound better than ever.

Thanks FMR Audio! I wish there were more companies like this!

Not a bad step up preamp for recording...its not the best, but a good medium grade pre... i use it with my fmr rnc and got some good results, it adds some color to your sound and stacks well on tracks... its a go to preamp for acoustic guitar and the DI's are decent and its pretty good with bass if the attack time is adjusted slow enough and release time slow enough...if you like real quality, buy Great River, Avalon, John Hardy and others, these are built like tanks, the fmr isnt...and that wallwart....

get it if on a budget for decent recordings....my 1.5 cents worth....get it somewhere else for free shipping!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice, January 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
The RNP is a must for small studios. I've mostly used it for vocals and acoustic instruments. Not only does it have a very pure sound, if allows for relatively low noise at high gain for the price. The only reason this did not get a 5 star rating, is the somewhat annoying pot. Every click is 6dB, which can be aggravating. Other than that, buy this preamp, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice preamp, December 14, 2008
This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
This product really deserves its name. This is probably the best preamp you can get for its price range. It is simple to use and does its job perfectly. It has all the standard features you would need in a preamp: 2 channels, phantom power, phase invert, 66 dB gain, hi-Z and XLR inputs.
A little detail I really like is that the gain knobs are in labeled 6 dB intervals, making it really easy to write down your working settings for different instruments.
All in all, a great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars awsome preamp, December 17, 2010
This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
I had no idea how much differnce a preamp could make. The only other preamps I've owned are the preamps in my m audio profire 610 and the preamps in my mackie vlz3, both considered good preamps in their class but, these fmr preamps completely blow them away, i can't imagine there being a substantially better preamp without paying at least $1000 per preamp, the fmr's less than $250 per preamp, I will probably buy another sometime, no brainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best under [...] Mic Preamp/DI, May 22, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
This is a PRO quality 2 chanel preamp. Dont let the 6db input increments bother you or the no output gain bother you, its a clean preamp and thats it. You have 2 DI inputs and this can be used for your bass. This preamp with a good microphone will allow you to lay down more and more tracks when recording and the tracks are well defined when mixing.

Had it for 4 years and its much better than a cheaper pre....there are more than this premp for under [...] but whis pre has the most user features....

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds good to me......, February 18, 2010
This review is from: FMR RNP Microphone Preamp
This a very good pre. It might not be as quiet as the much more expenive brands but the sound is very transparent and natural. It handles input that may be slightly distorted going in very well.
